Honestly, if it weren't for Suki and her insatiable desire to learn as much as she can about Pokémon--from how they behaved to how to care for them--she would never have stepped foot off the outskirts of the town. However, a fire burned in her heart, and with Suki's support and protection, she felt like she could accomplish anything.
Of course, she had to start small. She and Suki didn't train much at home, and her parents told her about far off places where wild Pokémon were very powerful and not always friendly like the ones she played with as a child. She'd have to train and fight with Suki, as much as she hated fighting, if she ever wanted to become strong enough to explore the world and care for all kinds of Pokémon. Reluctantly she agreed, realizing every good thing had to come at a price. And Suki, after Yukiko asked on numerous occasions for she was careful to make sure her Pokémon's needs were met, was more than happy to train in battles with the girl. Although they had never battled, their bond of friendship was strong.
"Suki, aren't they just adorable?" she asked, looking up at her Kangaskhan as they walked through the forest amongst droves of little raccoon like creatures. Suki nodded silently, watching her trainer pull her Pokédex from her backpack and flick it open, scanning the small creatures. "Zigzagoon, the TinyRaccoon Pokémon. Zigzagoon is extremely curious and so ends up walking in a zigzag path between things that interest it."
"Awe, that's really cute!" she exclaimed, closing the Dex and kneeling down. The Zigzagoon, much like her Pokédex had said, continued zipping around, sometimes tripping over eachother or toddering in circles before dashing off again. She giggled, unable to stop smiling at their antics. Finally one of them took notice of her and beelined right for her, much to her delight. She reached out her hand, petting it gently, surprised at how soft its fur was for how spikey it appeared. "You're a cute little thing, aren't you?" she asked idly as she scratched behind its ears, receiving grateful grunts in return. If this was what a Pokémon journey was all about, she could get used to it.

WILD ZIGZAGOON APPEARED!!male & gluttony & lv. 4 tackle & growl In the middle of the route the humans usually walked, a wild Zigzagoon walked with it's head lowered. It was clearly sad, and even moved in a straight line opposed to the usual zig-zag pattern of a Zigzagoon. Why was it so?
Because all the other Zigzagoon gathering in the route wouldn't play with this outcast. Maybe it was because of it's need for food, or it's personality. Either way, they did not like him. And what he saw ahead, just made him pessimistic. A human petting another Zigzagoon. "I will never be that popular" he whined, and walked foreward, against the trainer. It just didn't care anymore...
Wild Zigzagoon is depressed!!

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n254/Oooh_shit/route1background.png), border: solid #ffffff 5px; width: 400px; height: 500px;] A few other Zigzagoons, realizing the girl was there to visit and offer attention, not to kidnap or harm them, began wandering over to Yukiko for pets too, and soon she was having trouble keeping track of them all! Who hadn't gotten pet yet, who was pushing and shoving their friends? "Oh goodness, but I am a popular one today," she muttered and heard Suki chuckle behind her.
Here and there some of the Zigzagoons would bolt off after getting their pets, perhaps because their need for attention was sated or they realized they had important business to attend to, and almost immediately another would take its place. In fact, Yukiko was so bombarded by their attention she was very lucky to have even noticed the lonely little coon that was separate from the group. Now it wasn't because he was hard to find, for he was in plain sight just down the path, but she was becoming more and more enveloped in a sea of brown and white.
Suddenly, with a little twinge of panic, she realized she could easily be buried in them and stood, backing away a little. If the Zigzagoons noticed her unease they did nothing about it, following her and calling out for pets and love. Well, she'd be happy to give them more love, but what about the little guy down the road? The Zigzagoons surrounding her had each other whether Yukiko was there to love on them or not, but what of the lonely little guy who seemed estranged from the rest of the group?
She struggled to approach the other Zigzagoon, finding a place to put her foot and just as quickly finding another one right where it was about to land. It was hard work just to move an inch, but Suki was kind enough to gently chide the little Pokémon and ask them to move. She had a lot more guts than Yukiko: the trainer would have been more afraid of upsetting one of them than worried about actually getting anywhere. However, even though Suki's kind words only kept the Zigzagoons from bolting in front of her, she noticed the group dispersing as they realized the girl they were following was approaching the outcasted Zigzagoon. 'Interesting... I wonder why they're being so unkind to this one?'
She easily intercepted the path of the aimless Zigzagoon, kneeling down just as she had when she was petting the others. "Hey little guy," she said kindly, carefully looking him over for any hints as to why he was estranged from the group. "What are you doin' all by yourself?" she asked, finding no outward reason for him to be alone but feeling, all the same, an urge to reach out the little creature.

WILD ZIGZAGOON APPEARED!!male & gluttony & lv. 4 tackle & growl The girl who had been busy with the other Zigzagoons, much to this one's dismay, was now coming over. And, to no one's surprise, the others soon ran away as they approached him. Why, he had never known, and his chronical depression had just grown colder. Why did no one like him?
To his utter surprise, however, the girl now kneeled before him and seemed to want to socialize with him. Interaction. Warmth. These were things the Zigzagoon hadn't felt for a long, long time. So long, that he had no idea what to do. In fact, when the girl came close, he started backing up slowly, and stiffly. What would one do in this situation?
Wild Zigzagoon is nervous!!

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-image:url(http://i114.photobucket.com/albums/n254/Oooh_shit/route1background.png), border: solid #ffffff 5px; width: 400px; height: 500px;] Although Yukiko couldn't understand the language Pokémon spoke, she could tell by every small hint that the Zigzagoon was nervous. Why she couldn't imagine, for she wasn't coming with an empty Pokéball out to capture it, nor had she said anything to Suki about attacking it. She looked up at her friend thoughtfully: Suki had frightened her at first being so big, and although Yukiko was small for a girl her age, she knew the Zigzagoon was even smaller. Maybe he was just afraid of her because she was bigger than him?
"I'm sorry, I didn't mind to frighten you," she said softly. >"She's a very kind human, you don't need to be afraid of her,"< Suki reiterated, feeling the little Pokémon may feel more inclined to trust the girl if another Pokémon backed her up. Yukiko looked up at Suki curiously, having no idea what she'd just said, but she smiled a second later. Whatever it was, she figured it must have been very nice: Suki was a very caring sort of Pokémon, and if anyone was going to help her make the Zigzagoon feel better, it was her.
"Here," she said, slowly taking her bag off her back and rummaging around in it, trying not to make sudden or jerky movements that might scare the tiny Pokémon away. "I have something for you." Her hand finally returned, and in it were a few Pokéblocks and some berries, perfectly ripe and round as if they'd just been picked and not sitting in a box at the bottom of her bag. Now these were treats she kept with her at all times for Suki, but she felt her Kangaskhan would understand the special circumstances. Indeed, Suki seemed to smile when she saw Yukiko bring the treats out, as if she had been hoping the girl would do just that.
"Here you go, little guy," she said, lowering her hand and reaching it out to the Zigzagoon, hoping he wouldn't be too frightened to accept the gift. Some of the other Zigzagoon seemed to perk up at the sight of food, but even the allure of a nice snack did not seem to encourage them to come any closer to the outcasted Zigzagoon. 'Well, at least I won't have to worry about feeding all of them,' she thought with relief, knowing she could hardly provide enough for each of the Pokémon there. Besides that, she was beginning to feel rather frustrated with the other Zigzagoons.
She understood that her view could be a little biased for all she saw was the estranged Pokémon but not why he'd been cut off from the others in the first place. For all she knew he could have hurt another one or done something equally terrible! However, she couldn't stop her gut from squirming with irritation at the rest of the group: he seemed so sweet and nice. What could he possibly have done to provoke them into treating him so poorly? More than likely, she figured, he was just a little different. Just like humans, Yukiko noticed over the years that Pokémon could be just as bad as humans when it came to dealing with people they didn't understand or like. Perhaps this little Zigzagoon had just been dealt a crappy hand.
"You seem very lonely. You'd be more than welcome to join Suki and I if you want to, you know. I'd hate to leave you here to stay all by your lonesome. What do you think, Suki, would that be okay with you?" she asked, suddenly realizing the error in inviting someone else to their group without first getting her partner's opinion. Sure she was the trainer and, in the end, had the final say in all Pokémon who joined their team, but Suki was her friend and she would always consider her opinion.
Thankfully, though, Suki nodded, looking very happy. >"I think that would be a wonderful idea, if you would like to come along with us?"< she replied--putting her thoughts into words more for the Zigzagoon's comfort than Yukiko's needs, finally directing a question at the wild Pokémon. Just like Suki, the young lad would have a choice in joining Yukiko, and she felt it was just that trait that was one of the best things about Yukiko. She didn't force Pokémon to join her, didn't force them to fight--didn't force them to do anything! Although she answered to the girl out of pure respect, Yukiko and her Pokémon were equals in every other way.

WILD ZIGZAGOON APPEARED!!male & gluttony & lv. 4 tackle & growl When the Zigzagoon saw the berries and Blocks, it's instincts took over. It was probably because of it's ability, but it had now turned into a mindless glutton in a moment. Suddenly, it was chewing at the speed of sound, and swallowing constantly. Why it was like this, he himself didn't know... but food just tasted sooo good!!
When the girl offered for him to join her team, he was very glad. But he was still slightly insecure, and he had to think it through. She was the only one ever who had treated him well, as far as he could remember, and she had given him food. That was a big pluss! But, he didn't know her. And, she had a large Pokemon. Could this be some sort of trick?. No. His gut kept telling him. Zigzagoon, a feral Pokemon, despite the looks, had a strong sense of intuition, and this girl just seemed right for him. He lay his paw in her hand, and nodded cheerfully...

Before she knew it, the little Pokémon was done eating, licking her hand with its soft little tongue, throwing her into another fit of giggles. How she'd managed to go so long without knowing about these Pokémon was a mystery to her. There were just too cute to have been not known about!
Her smile became broader when the Pokémon, after taking some time to carefully consider her offer, decided to join her with a nod of his little head, his paw placed in her hand like a little handshake. She moved her thumb over it, its paw small enough to be nearly covered entirely by it, stroking his fur gently. "How wonderful! We're very happy to have you join us," she said cheerfully, ignoring the rest of the Zigzagoon. She wasn't sure if they'd be mad--jealous that the one they'd estranged from the group would be going on a journey--or happy to see the little guy go, and she honestly didn't want to know. As cute as they all were, they seemed very unkind, and she hated that. All she cared about now was her new partner.
"Here," she said, taking an empty Pokéball from her bag and, once it had been brought to full size, holding it out in front of the Zigzagoon. "This little thing here is a Pokéball. It'll be all yours--like a little home for you whenever you want to go there, or if it's not very safe for you to be outside. I promise I'll keep you outside of it most of the time though, unless you'd rather stay inside. Push the little button in the middle--that's how you get inside. Then you can hop on back out and maybe we can talk about a nickname for you, huh?"

WILD ZIGZAGOON APPEARED!!male & gluttony & lv. 4 tackle & growl The Zigzagoon was happy to join her, but didn't understand the technology before him clearly. What was this? He was very curious, his instincts coming into play, and sniffed it closely. After familiarizing with it, he clicked the button with his snout, and was transported into the ball.

WILD STANTLER APPEARED!!female & frisk & lv. 6 tackle & leer From the bushes, a wild Stantler arrived, seeing a red glow vanishing into a ball. She wasn't curious, and didn't even care. It was the red on the ball, it alluded her. She liked the color, somehow, and couldn't help but stare at it. She felt warm, but at the same time freezing. She just stood there, and just stared...

In all reality, Yukiko had not come to find herself another Pokémon for the team, but the Zigzagoon seemed like he needed a friend, and if Yukiko was nothing else, she was a good friend.
"Alright, here you are," she said, releasing the Pokémon back out onto the path. "Is it comfy in there?" she asked, her concerns certainly uncommon for a trainer. "Now we just have to give you a nickname, something all your own. What do you think about Mister Wiggles? Okay, I'm kidding, I'm kidding. Damien?"
She was going to offer more suggestions, but Suki made a low noise in her throat, nearly inaudible, a subtle tonal suggestion for Yukiko to lift her head and look around her. A little embarrassed and wondering what she might have missed, she looked around at the Zigzagoons. Nothing seemed off or out of place until she looked past a spot in the bushes nearby, nearly starting when she saw a young Stantler standing there, staring at them. How long had it been there without Yukiko noticing?
It was as she looked from Stantler to her Pokémon that she realized it had been staring at the spot where her Zigzagoon had disappeared and reappeared. Instinctively, though she was sure the Pokémon meant them no harm, she scooped up the coon, holding him in her arms should the worst occur. "H-hey there," she managed finally, somehow not sounding entirely too nervous about the wild Pokémon.

WILD STANTLER APPEARED!!female & frisk & lv. 6 tackle & leer The Stantler wasn't quite sure what was happening. The Zigzagoon that once stood at one spot, was not standing there. And when she checked again, he was suddenly there again. So full of wonders this world was, because something like that she had never seen before. What magic!
Suddenly, the Pokemon and the human noticed her, and seemed to become quite suspicious of her. What had she done wrong? The bushes were for everyone, weren't they? The human picked up the Zigzagoon, and if that wasn't unnatural enough, she talked to the Stantler. What was this? The Pokemon beside her, seemingly her partner, was probably the biggest threat out of this loony group, and so she leered at the Kangashkahn, with eyes of steel.

"Stantler, the Big Horn Pokémon. The eye like shape at the base of its horn produce a pleasant odor and has a bewildering effect on anyone who smells it. It can also create startling realistic illusions by shaking its horns. Stantler form herds, and live in mountainous terrain."
She looked up at Stantler and then Suki as she pocketed Dex, wondering exactly what brought the Pokémon here of all places. Was Dex wrong, or was this Stantler completely out of place? She supposed Pokémon didn't have to live in just the places the Pokédex said they did, but then why was this one in a forest and not a mountain?
Zigzagoon shifted uncomfortably in her arms, wriggling to go free, and she loosened her grip, letting him hop down to the ground. Both seemed to have a lot to learn about their new relationship as trainer and pokémon. "~zigaaah, zig--zigzagoon!" Yukiko was at a loss for what he possibly could have meant and looked up at Suki who seemed less antsy than Zigzagoon.
"What is this?" he had been asking, "what's with that weird look she was giving me?" "She probably isn't used to seeing Pokémon who live with trainers. It is probably a curious sight for her," Suki replied patiently. Zigzagoon didn't seem convinced: he was confused, a little insulted, and to top it off, he was hungry. That snack of berries and Pokéblock had been wonderful, but all this excitement left his tummy grumbling for more.
Suki was about to gently chide him for more patience when the Stantler's attitude suddenly turned ugly. She leered at Suki, not the most intimidating thing but clearly looking for a fight, and the Kangaskhan immediately stood to full height, ready to fight the wild Pokémon. It was Yukiko who stopped her with a gentle hand on her arm. She looked down, careful to stay in a safe spot between being the girl's Pokémon--and therefore at her command--and the girl's protector, who would fight if need be no matter how the girl felt about it.
For now the danger was small enough that the Kangaskhan could listen and, perhaps with the help of her trainer, avoid a battle all together. She enjoyed the opportunity to test and increase her skill, but Yukiko's word trumped all of her ideas. "Wait, Suki. Let me try to talk to her," she implored, and the Kangaskhan nodded. She would let her talk alright, but she'd be ready to pummel that Stantler to the ground if things got ugly.
"Stantler," Yukiko said, turning towards the Pokémon in the bushes. "We don't want to hurt you. If it's all the same to you, we'll just be going now." Zigzagoon looked up at the girl curiously, still learning how she worked and behaved. 'Well,' he thought, 'maybe if we go now we can go to one of those great big buildings humans go to eat and get a snack. Then I'll be able to think a little better and food always makes people happy.'

WILD STANTLER APPEARED!!female & frisk & lv. 6 tackle & leer Blaming the girl was something that came forced in the Stantler's mind. This girl, and all her human friends, it was their doing. Their fault that the pack the wild Stantler once was a part of split up. "You ruined everything, and now you shall pay!" the Stantler growled, and shifted aggressively.
Seeing the girl acting all friendly made her even more angry. It was a trap, she was sure, aiming to send her away with that red ray of light. "You won't catch me!" she said, and tackled towards the girl, in a hunger for revenge. What would happen now?

That or she was so hungry she wasn't capable of thinking that far ahead, but would if she was able. He couldn't spend too much time considering the possibilities for the Stantler finally spoke, angry words spilling out of her mouth like venom.
Ziggy was shocked and looked up at Yukiko for her response. She seemd to be just as surprised, mouth dropped open wide. Although she couldn't actually understand anything Stantler was saying, the fire in her eyes and her aggressive posture were enough evidence for her that she didn't like the girl one bit.
"You don't even know what you're talking about, you insolent brat!" the Kangaskhan retorted fiercely, clearly readier to fight than Yukiko was willing to be. Thankfully, it was this readiness that allowed her to step in front of Yukiko before the Stantler connected with her in a tackle, taking the full brunt of the attack without batting an eye. Now there was no turning back for the wild Pokémon, no matter what anyone said. Still, she glanced down at her trainer, who looked shaken more than anything. Good. At least no harm had befallen her.
Suki turned around again and used Hammer Arm on the Stantler, ready to put her down where she stood for attacking her trainer like that. She was much bigger than the Stantler, and with the close range they currently had, she intended on using it to deliver the fullest force of her attack.
"Suki, use Disable too, so she can't tackle you again!" Yukiko said, finally finding her voice after her initial shock.

WILD STANTLER APPEARED!!female & frisk & lv. 6 tackle & leer How could this Pokemon whole-heartedly protect this human? Did she not know what the humans had done to her? The Hammer Arm hit the Stantler on the neck, hurting immensely, but the Disable she avoided, hopping with her long legs to the right.
"I will tell you what the humans did! They ruined my home!" she growled, and went in for a tackle at the Kangaskhan. As she ran, she spoke. "And, they chased me away from my family!" she cried, apparently heartbroken. She put her all into the tackle...

She winced as her Pokémon took another tackle easily, hardy enough to take the attacks but too slow to avoid them.
"Use Comet Punch, Suki, then Counter her attack." Suki obeyed willingly. This fight was one she didn't start but became one she was glad to finish. That sentiment quickly changed when the Stantler explained her behavior, and her words hit Suki in a way that surprised her. She knew all about Pokémon being hurt and run out of their homes, scattered to the far corners of the world. She knew the pain and had she not met Yukiko, also knew the distrust and hatred that ate at the Stantler.
"Now listen here," Suki scolded harshly, "I understand that humans have hurt you--they've hurt me too. But that's some of them. Not all humans are terrible creatures, and your pain, what some have done to you in the past, is no reason at all to attack every human you see. Perhaps if you thought a little more about it, you'd realize there are many very kind humans, just like this one." She glanced back at Yukiko who still held Ziggy in her arms. She was confused, she knew, but she was also trusting. Whatever she could have imagined Suki was saying, Suki knew her trainer was aware that it was only good.
Yukiko and Ziggy shared glances. Ziggy looked worried, staying out of the conversation but hearing every bit of it, and Yukiko smiled kindly. "Don't worry, Ziggy, Suki will be fine." It was a vague comment, accompanied by a scratch on his chin. She really had no idea what they were saying, but Suki was smart and strong, and she relaxed in the fact that she would handle the situation well.
Ziggy nodded, equally satisfied with the situation. It was much better that the Kangaskhan handle the battle and the diplomacy here. He knew nothing about the Stantler's plight and was hardly equipped to fight a Pokémon like that. The most he ever experienced was the occasional scuffle with other Zigzagoon.
