Seeing that the other pokemon was intent on attacking, the ground-type used his superior speed to try to get off the first hit, swinging his claws for a scratch attack on the Mantyke. Unfortunately, he had put himself in the perfect position for Mantyke's two attacks to hit. Stumbling backwards from the bubble attack's hit, he was caught in the supersonic and fell onto his back.

It was obvious his confidence had built up from the last fight, their pretty dominant victory being most notable. The young trainer had a proud air about him as he had his head and chest held high, not in a haughty way, but one could tell his confidence had grown greatly. Even if the visual hint's were not enough for him to realize his new disposition, he surely did recognize the new way with which he had given orders. Normally his battle commands were direct and completely specific, but the ones he had just given were loose with room for Mantyke's own judgement.

He wasn't sure what it was, but for some reason Mantyke seemed much stronger than before as oppose to partly fatigued from her last battle. Perhaps this was why he had a new confidence in her abilities? Whatever the case he was just happy to see Mantyke execute her orders without a hitch. It seemed Drilbur attempted to counter with a swift frontal attack, but only managed to run into the stream of bubbles that were shot its way, effectively falling back helplessly into supersonic. "Alright Mantyke good job, use bubble again!" A part of him wanted to order for a tackle attack, but Drilbur's large shovel like claws and the speed it had just displayed on the ground made him think twice about working outside of their advantages.

Slowly rising to his feet, the Drilbur started to spin towards the Mantyke. Still disoriented by the supersonic, he missed his target completely and smashed into the rocky hillside. As he pulled himself free from the stone, the water attack hit him in the back, startling him even more. In his confusion, he mistakenly believed that throwing mud about would help him in the battle, despite the Mantyke's lack of electric attacks and his immunity to them. Flipping mud about to ground the area around him, he ended up tripping on the very muck he had been spreading. This pokemon was really confused.

He was doing it again, giving loose commands. Had he reverted back to his old ways he would have probably given specific trajectory and perhaps a defined angle of attack as well. "I wonder if this is part of the maturation process of become a great trainer?" Surely it had to be, though the trainer was the one giving the commands, he had to be able to coordinate with his pokemon that were out on the battlefield as well.

They needed to form close and strong relationships so that they could become familiar in IQ, almost to the point that they could essential anticipate each others thought patterns. How marvelous it would be to give a basic command such as, tackle, and have your partner instantly know how exactly you would want it to attack based upon the present situation. He and Mantyke were nowhere near that level of sync just yet, but it was clear they were moving in the right direction. "Oh no!"

By the time he had caught himself drifting around in his own thoughts, he had quickly realized that Drillbur was baring down towards them, spinning rapidly like a tight drill. The mole like pokemon was already too close for him to give an order to Mantyke in regards to dealing with the assault. However, to their luck, Drilbur had missed them by a mile and smashed into the hillside. It then strangely began to cake itself with mud that did nothing but slick the area around it and cause it too lose its footing. "Umm, alright...Mantyke, lets take advantage and clobber it continuously with bubble!"

As he pulled himself to his feet, the Drilbur was hit by another barrage of bubbles. He was starting to get sick of them, and for the moment he could feel his thoughts clearing. This time, as he started to spin rapidly towards the Mantyke, he did not swerve wildly off target. If the Mantyke didn't dodge, she would be hit full force. The second bubble attack hit the spinning mole, but did not slow his assault.

From the looks of things it seemed Mantyke wasn't having very much trouble with this Drilbur, she had the ground type against the ropes from the beginning up until thus far. The young trainer had calculated this to be because of her type advantage, exerting her water nature over the Drilbur's ground nature just as she had done with Cubone. But as the drill digging pokemon had made it back to its feet after being rifled with it's own confusion, he could tell that it was regaining it's bearings.

Despite this, it was still hit with Mantyke's initial bubble attack, perhaps a good sign to be sure. Though this time around it did not waver like before, no, an air of resolve seemed to be about the Drilbur this go around. In the blink of an eye, it came spinning rapidly, but this time he was directed perfectly towards Mantyke and no stray mountainsides would be able to save her this time. "Hurry up with that bubble!" As he fought against his instinct to close his eyes and pray, his icy blue irises caught the sweet sight of his Mantyke executing its second bubble attack successfully before Drilbur could close the distance.

However, this sweet celebration quickly blinked out of existence as he and Mantyke quickly realized that their counter did not stop the assault. "Tyke!" Since she had used the small amount of time to use a counter attack as oppose to trying defend, she had no time to do anything but watch as Drilbur bashed her in the chest, sending her back several feet. "Oh no!" Although, now heavily worried, he could tell Mantyke wasn't finished yet. Though she was hit with the full force of the attack she had managed to keep airborne whilst fighting through the pain. "Quick, use tackle before Drilbur has a chance to regroup again!" The plan was for Mantyke to gather herself and attack before the Drilbur could regroup after its spinning charge, hopefully she would have some luck.

Spinning coming to a stop, Drilbur was finding that his thoughts were starting to cloud again. The rapid movements had not helped his head any, and his wobbly legs barely held him up as the water-type crashed into him. Swinging his claws out in an attempt to scratch Mantyke, he did a half-spin and then fell to the ground. His attack had did nothing but cause him more pain, and the unfortunate mole was starting to look very worn out.
