She figured it was worth a try to give the city a good look over and see if it was fitting for for one of Echelon's building's, functioning as an inn or club as cover of course. She'd spent quite a bit of time already running around the place and checking things out. inspecting everything she could come across of course seeing as she was the thorough kind of worker bee and not the half assed sort. The city seemed like it could work, it'd be a possibility at least. There didn't seem to be anything particularly special but she was looking for that sort of thing just as much as she was something that could give a huge advantage. Either way the place would be a definite interest for Echelon. Sliding from around the corner of a building she slipped her cellphone from its pocket on the inside of her jacket. Maiya smiled to herself a little at the knife that was also nice and snug in her pocket. She'd always had a fondness for the sharp objects after all and they made for lovely self defense if her pokemon were out of the question or in the case that she felt like taking on the tussle herself. After all she couldn't let them have all the fun now could she? Most definitely not. Flicking open the cellphone she glanced down at the screen to see a message from her aunt already waiting for her and reading it over her brow furrowed. Somehow she had been late on reporting back. Oh well she was reporting now, Auntie would get over it. With a quick response she made the added note for Auntie to look in depth at Striaton where she could and see about getting the move from Hoenn only to the rest of the world started. With a nod of confirmation she closed the phone and returned it to its hiding spot before looking around again. Maiya didn't really see anything interesting so she decided instead she'd perk up these streets a little herself. Oh yes a little excitement would do these people good she figured and she'd had a particular song rolling around in her mind for awhile now. Oh yes it was time to sing a little. "My hearts a stereo, It beats for you so listen close, Hear my thoughts in every note, Oh oh, Make me your radio, Turn me up when you feel low, This melody was meant for you, So sing-a-long to my stereo Oh oh oh oh, Oh oh oh To my stereo Oh oh oh oh, So sing a long to my stereo" She could hear the music playing in her head as though it were blasting through the speakers of one of her Aunt's clubs. It was clear as day to her and almost enough to drown out the rest of the world but not quite. She watched as she caught the attention of a few passerby and let herself move with the music in her head and more come to see the show. "If I was just another dusty record on the shelf, Would you blow me off and play me like everybody else, If I asked you to scratch my back could you handle that, Like yikky yea Travie I can handle that, Further more I apologize for any skipping tracks, It's just the last girl that played me left a couple tracks"

The high pitched squealing of the clock was cut off suddenly as a somewhat pale hand slammed over the snooze button. After silencing the clock the pale hand returned tp it's place under the covers. A few seconds later the blankets rose before falling back onto the bed, revealing one Azalia Page.
With a groggy moan Azalia rubbed her eyes, keeping one hand up afterward to cling to her pounding skull. Releasing a sound of annoyance she glanced at the offending clock. Red numbers blinked revealing the time to be about 1:43PM. This really didn't suit the girl, but she didn't think about it long before scurrying off to the bathroom. This scurry wasn't especially fast as the girl bumped into and tripped over things. Thanks to her poor eyesight, Azalia saw everything as a vague blur and was only able to reach the bathroom out of pure habit.
The previous night, despite being a nineteen year old blind girl, Azalia had drank. This was common wasn't anything new. Now, she was hungover. After emptying her stomach in the bathroom, Azalia stumbled into the kitchen and got a glass of water, nearly spilling it on herself in her attempt to drink it. Afterwards she went to her room and got dressed in a random selection of clothes. The result being a pink tanktop, green skirt, and a pair of brown sandals.
Not able to check her appearance in the mirror Azalia simply stumbled her way to the door out of her apartment and exited her mess of a home. Honestly, Azalia hated going outside. Especially when she was hungover. But at the moment she needed to go into town to get some things. So, she started heading down the stairs to the ground floor. Using her good memory she took the exact amount of steps down to the previous floor before going down the next flight and exiting the apartment building. As soon as she was outside she regretted it.
With a slight yelp Azalia flung her hands to her ears. The sounds of the city were murder on her ears. Not only was she hungover but she had sensitive ears, couple that with her headache and almost any sound was murder. Giggling teens, battling pokemon, screaming people, all of it made Azalia want to tear out her eardrums. After taking a deep breath and blinking away the tears that had sprang to her eyes she began walking.
The sound of her footsteps on the sidewalk's stone assured Azalia she wasn't walking onto the road, and while she walked Azalia waved one arm around her to make sure she didn't run into anyone. Sure, if people weren't watching they'd get hit by her but that was their fault not her's. Wincing at every loud sound and feeling her headache worsen she continued to walk, trying her best to keep her footsteps audible to her and to make sure she didn't run into anyone.
Sounds died down a bit after some walking, and Azalia found herself greeted by the sound of singing. From the faintness of it she knew the person must be a small distance away, and it seemed she'd be taking a new road to get to her. Not that Azalia cared, some singing might help her headache. Sighing, she turned the opposite direction of the store she meant to go to and headed in the direction of the singing.
It didn't take long for the sound to become loud enough that Azalia could basically point at the source of the voice if she so wished. Which she didn't. After a bit more walking Azalia stood still and turned towards the source of the voice, listening to the sweet sound of its music. Standing about three feet away from the voice, she listened to the song.
"Ah, much better." Azalia spoke, her voice raspy and with a definite tiredness to its tone. She heard a small collection of "Shh"'s and "Be quiet"'s, telling her that she had spoken loud enough to accidentally serve as an interruption to some. Once again, she didn't care. Though, she did listen and stay quiet until the song's end.

It would seem one of the bystander's decided to comment and a few others didn't like that fact. She was being loud enough that it shouldn't have mattered, the by standers with a problem could just get over it and continue listening seeing as they only caused more noise over a single comment. Now had this girl continued with her disturbances then maybe it would warrant her being told to quiet down but otherwise it was more a nuisance for the others to be speaking than the girl in question. "If I was an old school 50 pound boom box, Would you hold me on your shoulder wherever you walk, Would you turn my volume up in front of the cops, And turn it higher when they told you to stop, And all I ask is that you don't get mad at me, When you have to purchase mad D Batteries, Appreciate every mix tape your friends made, You never know we come and go like on the interstate, I think I finally found the note to make you understand, If you can hear then sing a long and take you by the hand, Just keep it stuck inside your head like your favorite tune, And know my hearts a stereo that onlt plays for you"
Maiya went on to finish the song, it was one that she wasn't sure why but she'd become rather fond of it in recent days. maybe it was because it seemed to liken the heart and its love to being a music that played for the sake of the one you loved and she liked the sound of that. Being the music lover she was, hell singing was all she felt she really truly had most days, the idea of your heart being a stereo singing for another, she liked that thought. She liked the mere idea of it. The thought that maybe there was someone out there her heart could sing for, even if she was undeserving of such a thing she liked it. Maybe a little piece of her even wanted it. Maiya gave a little flare of a wrap up before bowing to the crowd and giving the audience her thank yous for them having stood there and listened. She grinned a little as a few walked up to her to drop off a coin or two and she decided to turn around and hold her hood out and open for people to drop their spare change into if they wished. She didn't really need the money but she was trying not to rely on the money from back home too much if she could help it and as such she'd be taking every free bit she could manage. Her singing of course had always been fruitful seeing as she was rather good at it after ten years of being taught and then eight years of near constant practice. Maiya could also remember her vocal coach once saying she had something not everyone did, that she could emotion into her singing better than a lot of the singers out there could and that put her a step above the rest. It was too bad though, she had spoiled any future such a talent could take her to years ago. Dropping the edge of her hood Maiya found her eyes wandering around whether the spectators were done paying or not, besides her hood felt a little heavy too. Without really thinking about it she found her eyes settling on the girl who seemed to say something earlier and get called out on it. Maiya planted a sweet smile on her face just in case the girl noticed or something of the like. Biting her lip though she decided to take a chance and called out to the crowd. "Any one have a request?" |

The blur around her told her nothing, but she was guessing that there were a few immature idiots who couldn't get over her one small comment. It was irritating. She'd come outside to go shopping and now she was surrounded by idiots. Still, with a bit of effort Azalia was able to just zero in on the sound of the voice, which might as well have been amplified by a microphone with how close she was and how sensitive her ears were.
It was a nice song. The only thing Azalia could have said about it was the way it was centered around love. Then again, that was a biased opinion and Azalia had a feeling it would be ill received. Usually neither fact would bother her but she disliked the thought of upsetting such a talented singer. On top of that, she could tell from how cramped she was feeling and the occasional brush against her arm that there were plenty of people. Offending groups wasn't a good idea.
When the girl finished singing Azalia meant to quickly cover her ears to block out any cheering. This of course happened to be impossible, as it came faster than expected and Azalia had to suck herself out of the music first. The lingering sounds of the melody were drowned out by clapping and a few cheers. Though not loud to most people they startled Azalia and caused her to wince slightly. Oh how Azalia hated noisy people.
Azalia thought she felt eyes on her again, but only for a second. It was a strange thing considering the girl, whatever she looked like and wherever she stood, was the center of attention. Just to make sure she wasn't standing by her or anything Azalia swung an arm around, only getting a few annoyed protests from two men who should have been standing more than a few inches away. Maybe the singer looked at her? Azalia shrugged off the thought about the time the singer's voice asked if there were any requests.
It seemed a few people were thinking about it but weren't sure. Azalia was always amazed by how bashful groups could be when they were cheering and clapping only seconds ago. After a bit of thought and without hesitating for more than a second Azalia opened her mouth. No, not to make a request, but to offer a song of her own. To assure she sounded her best Azalia focused her sensitive hearing on her voice, she could still make mistakes, but she'd hear them when they appeared.
"I found god, on the corner of first and Amistad. Where the west, was all, but won. All alone, smokin' his last cigarette. I said 'Where you been?' He said 'Ask anything.' Where were you, when everything was falling apart? All my days, spent by the telephone, that never rang! When all I needed was a call, that never came, to the corner of first and Amistad."
Azalia couldn't remember when she'd heard the song. It had been some time ago and time tended to simply blend along with that strange blur her eyes created. Time fused itself vaguely just like that giant smudge of every color her eyes created. That thing that was borderline blind but was considered sight. Nonetheless, Azalia focused on her singing. Her ears twitched slightly while she sang, voice a gentle Alto.
"Lost and insecure. You found me, you found me. Lying on the floor. Surrounded, Surrounded. Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late. You found me, You found me."
While singing, Azalia was reminded of why she remembered the song. Two years ago, a time that flowed and she could place as only yesterday. She remembered that night in that house, far too big for her to ever go through by memory and always so damn cold. A few pills was all it took for her to feel herself leave that house. Strangely enough, they found her a bit early. But still just a little late. After singing the chorus Azalia paused for a second. It was a silent greeting, an offer, if this girl who had been performing wanted to step in and share the song with her Azalia wouldn't object.

Of course this ticked Maiya off and she tended to go into show off mode where she belted the songs with the same precision she kept while singing quieter and drowned out the other or in the case they actually knew what they were doing she'd match them. Though she grit her teeth a little at the other girl walking in on her parade she said nothing, sang nothing and just listened for the time being. It came to her as a complete surprise when the girl came to a stop in the song and seemed to wait. There was nothing in her features that made it seem like she was choking up and couldn't go further because of one emotion or another which led her to the conclusion that she was waiting for something. Maiya tilted her head to the side and quirked a brow at the idea. Waiting for what? Well she wasn't going to let the silence linger and the crowd grow restless and potentially leave before she could grab a few more coins off of them. However when she thought about it she made the decision to test something out. "In the end Everyone ends up alone Losing her The only one who's ever known Who I am Who I'm not, who I wanna be No way to know How long she will be next to me" Funny how that small set of lyrics seemed oddly fitting for her. The one person who probably knew her best, her sister, well she was gone now. She had also lost the first ever friend she had made and the only adult that had ever made a real positive impact on her early life. Then later as she'd made at least a handful more friends well, where were they now? She'd lost them all and now she was all alone. Of course she had in part done this to herself and really who was she to blame besides herself for that? She was the one that decided to dive into the situations that ruined her future, gave her such a horrid reputation and she was just naturally a disgusting horrid monster so there was never anyone else to blame. Except maybe a few people for amplifying it or urging her to dive deeper into it. "Lost and insecure You found me, you found me Lyin' on the floor Surrounded, surrounded Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late You found me, you found me Funny how even that was loosely fitting though not as much as the bit before. Sure had her friend to be at the time been even a handful of seconds later then she was Maiya wouldn't be standing where she was today but at the same time they didn't feel as snug to her. Not quite right for her though it didn't keep her form putting the emotion into the to give the words just a little more oomph as Ina had always called it. But she watched to test something and as such she made the decision to cut herself off there despite how much she wanted to continue on. A little part of her for some reason wanted to see if maybe the other girl would sing a bit more. Even if it was only a little bit more, and maybe if she went for the final part she'd throw in a harmony for a nice big finale? |

Was she annoyed? Had she somehow offended the singing girl? It didn't really bother Azalia much, aside from the fact that the pause was completely unnecessary and the girl could just tell her no. A silent thanks slipped between Azalia's lips when the girl finally opened her mouth and sang. About damn time, what was that? A whole 10 seconds wasted?
As the girl sang, Azalia returned to listening. A slight twitch of her ears could be seen every few seconds. It was just a sign that her sensitive ears were focused on the sound of the girl's voice. Nonetheless, she still heard a few snickers when it happened. She hated snickering, if you think it's appropriate to laugh, laugh for Arceus' sake! It was obnoxious to restrain it. You weren't any less of a distraction.
When she heard the girl hit the chorus she returned her full attention to the girl. The emotion in her voice was nice, and it drew a slight grin to her face. It was nice to listen to someone who could actually sing. Auto-tuning hurt her ears so she tended to avoid her radio unless she really wanted music to listen to. The pause was sudden, at the end of the chorus. A logical stopping point. Once again Azalia opened her mouth and began singing when the offer was given.
Early morning, city breaks, I've been calling. For years and years and years and you never left me no messages! Never send me no letters! You've got some kind of nerve, taking all I want!
She loved the amount of emotion one could put into this song. Abandonment, anger, sadness, betrayal, all of these could be expressed when singing it. When Azalia sang she tended to push the sense of abandonment and betrayal, as those were the two of her emotions that fit best with the song. To be honest, the line itself caused her eyes to water a bit. No tears were shed, but it managed to worsen the blur she saw, making the strange smudge of colors begin to shiver.
Lost and insecure. You found me, you found me. Lying on the floor. Where were you? Where were you?
Singing this line was irritating for so many reasons. The sense of betrayal and abandonment, even in the original song the emotion became stronger. So, Azalia naturally increased her own. A slight shiver could be heard in her voice with the last two bits, asking where the people were when you needed them. Or god as some would like to interpret it.
It was a question Azalia often asked herself when she was drunk or hungover, when her emotions were most prone to squeeze their way out of that iron box that she now called her heart. The emotion and parts of her she could put into it were bothersome. She hated feeling those emotions and thought herself above it, and used to the thoughts. She wasn't supposed to be susceptible to them!
Sighing a bit to dispel the emotions and blinking away the tears that had formed in her eyes. Because of course, she was hungover at that moment. She felt her stomach churn a bit as if reminding her of the fact. After swallowing hard she looked in the direction of the girl's voice, nodding slightly in her general direction as a sign for her to step in before continuing. Hopefully the girl would understand the silent request.
Lost and insecure. You found me, you found me. Lying on the floor. Surrounded, surrounded. Why'd you have to wait? Where were you? Where were you? Just a little late. You found me, you found me.
Hoping the girl was with her for atleast this last part Azalia finished.
Why'd you have to wait? To find me. To find me.
With that final line Azalia felt a few tears leak down her face before she rushed in the direction of a few trees. She'd heard the sounds of pokemon rustling around in their leaves so she knew where they were. After stumbling a bit she reached a trunk, grabbed it, and quickly hid behind it before emptying her stomach. Being hungover sucked.
