Devan sat on the edge of the land, his clothes and shoes folded up in a neat pile beside his bag as he now wore his swim trunks. He sighed peacefully as he cooled his feet in the calm and soothing waters of Route 18. He could see an island not far off into the water but didn’t feel like swimming over there just yet. Maybe in a bit. It was late morning right now and the sun was shining brightly in the sky, occasionally overcastted by the lazy white clouds as they drifted by on the cool breeze that had been blowing ever since he’d arrived. Around him his pokemon played either on the land or in the water, all staying close and in sight though, knowing better than to wander off. Bandit and Rain were splashing each other, the cute little Sentret and cheerful Simipour having a blast in the cool water. Meanwhile on land, Sparky, his energetic little Pichu, was being chased by his first pokemon and partner Dusk, the fiery Litwick. His Gastly, Shadow, was using the time to take a break as Dusk went after Sparky, the last to be ‘it,’ she had, had a tough time of catching the quick witted litwick and was glad to be getting a rest. Devan smiled as he watched his little family laughing and having fun, it looked like it was shaping up to be a great day. He was a little worried earlier that morning but now was glad he’d surprised his pokemon with this little beach trip.

Oliver paused as he approached the beach. The grass suddenly turned to sand, and as he lifted his head and looked out at the water, he could see an island a little ways away. His Phanpy and Electrike had been walking on either side of him. As he stopped, Harrison kept moving, and the little elephant suddenly broke out into a full out run towards the water. He jumped in, creating a splash that must have gone up at least 5 meters. Oliver laughed. Hendrix, meanwhile, looked at the sand and tentatively placed paw after paw onto the unstable substance. Oliver put his hands on his hips and took in a deep breath. "It's like home," he said, smiling. He lowered his gaze to see Harrison; the Phanpy seemed to be just as comfortable in the water as he was on land. Shrugging, Oliver leaned down and took off his shoes. He was relieved he'd decided to wear shorts that day, and a simple T-shirt. The detour to the ocean had been an impulsive decision. Holding his shoes in one hand, he headed onto the sand, passing Hendrix, who was still having troubles getting used to having all the tiny little grains stuck in between his toes. He dropped his shoes and his backpack on the sand a good distance away from the water, and then ran, diving into the water. The coolness came as an immediate refreshment, and he surfaced a moment later, shaking water out of his hair, which now drooped down over his face. He hadn't changed into his swim trunks, but he had several changes of clothes in his bag, so he wasn't too worried. He smiled, looking back towards the beach, and noticing another trainer not too far away, dipping his feet in the water. Oliver watched the other trainer's pokemon for a moment. He seemed to have lots already. It was true Oliver had one more, but he couldn't be sure that the young Pichu would be prepared yet for the ocean. He still had no real idea what to do with it, but he figured eventually he'd have to train it. That would happen somewhere safer; for all he knew, Taygete would drown herself near any sort of body of water. No doubt whilst looking for something shiny. He swam over towards the other trainer, and slowed down as he got closer. "Hey!" he called, waving. "Those are some great pokemon you've got," he added, noticing that the other boy had a Pichu as well. It looked much more capable than Oliver's. Harrison had followed him, and let out a happy snort in Devan's direction.
