He'd only been here a couple days and had already found himself a nice pokémon and explored a couple interesting areas. Yet with such an exciting life-style so far, it wasn't going to be long before Daniel was left with nothing to do. And it seemed like that moment had come now. The poor fifteen year old was left sitting on the edge of a cliff, his legs dangling off it. He spent a couple minutes trying to figure out how much he'd been growing recently, it seemed like each day he felt a little bit taller. It wasn't like he didn't want to be tall, but Daniel didn't have the money to go out and buy new clothes, and the once he had would soon be too short. He could already feel the arms of his white shirt constrict against his skin. Ellie, his Audino, had been watching the boy in silence. Tilting her head every couple minutes to get a better look at his face. "Auuuu?" She sang, in a curious tone. It seemed like whenever she spoke her voice always sounded positive and graceful. That is what made Ellie such a great partner for Daniel. Not only was she nice to be around and caring, but she was also a voice of reason whenever the boy tried to get into horrible situations. But right now the Audino was wondering why Daniel looked so... upset. She took a couple steps closer, as she turned gave a little smirk. "it's nothing bud, just a little bored. aren't you?" his smile grew, and one of his hands outstretched to give her a little rub on the head. She shrugged at the question, unsure if she should respond or not, let alone what she would reply with. Finally decided to move from the area, Daniel leaped off the small cliff and awaited for his pokémon to follow. Yet she didn't seem to be very interested in the stunt and trotted over to the stairs she'd used to venture up there in the first place. Daniel rolled his eyes and smiled at the Audino; she gave a nervous giggle and trailed behind him as they wandered the dirty path. They came to a junction, and Daniel decided to turn left, leading him to a huge open area. Tall grass occupied most of the area, and a lake was found very near. It was then that an idea springed to mind. He spun around quickly, giving Ellie a little fright when he did. "What do you think about training? You could do with leveling up a bit!" Daniel began to jump up and down at his own idea, excited for it to come into action. Yet, Ellie didn't seem very keen on the idea. She has never really been a fighting pokémon. Yet, it was her trainer's decision and she would go along with it... no matter how worried she was. After a couple seconds of arguing with herself, the Audino finally stepped into the long grass to meet Daniel. His eyes scanned every single angle that he could. He knew that these wild pokémon popped out of nowhere, but it would be a very good advantage for Ellie to attack one off guard. Although, he still believed that his pokémon was strong enough to take on anything around the area. Ellie on the other hand was panicking that she would not be as strong as her trainer thought and would embarrasses herself in front of him.[/style]

A small helmet-like shape was laying in the grass, thought it clearly had eyes and appeared to be a pokemon. He was resting right now, completely unaware of the trainer nearby. The sleeping pokemon looked young, this could prove to be an easy fight. It was up to the trainer to attack the currently defenseless Shelmet or to leave it be.

He scanned the skies, pond, and mainly the grass. A little part of the healing pokémon hoped he wouldn't find anything and they could go back to going through caves and just having Daniel in danger. Yet, she had to do this. How would she protect herself and her trainer if she didn't level up at all? Swallowing down all the fear, ellie dived deeper into the grass, now standing next to Daniel. It seemed like as soon as she'd stepped further forward Daniel had noticed something. On closer inspection he saw it to be a piece of shrapnel that no one wanted. Yet, a small noise was released from the strange shiny thing. Shuffling over to get a look from another angle, the boy realized it was indeed a pokémon. A sleeping one that was local to this region. Bewildered by it's appearance he careful pulled out his pokédex, trying not to wake the pokémon. It turned out the pokemon was called shelmet, and was a bug type. It didn't seem very strong and being asleep meant Ellie would be able to attack at first with no problem. Wanting to take charge straight away, the teenager pointed at his pokémon and whispered, "Use pound, don't hold back," his lips over-exaggerated the words and Ellie gave a concerned nod. Unsure if he was just strange, or having some kind of fit, she got closer to the sleeping shelmet. Finally building up the courage to attack, Daniel had moved away from his Audino. She had left a little gap to have a run up at the shelmet, and began to close it. She threw herself at the pokémon, hoping to cause as much pain as possible.[/style]

He had a lot of trust in Ellie and knew that she would be able to take on the Shelmet without much of an issue. Eyes almost popping out of their sockets he watched the Audino make her way toward the sleeping pokemon, crossing his fingers. She made the hit and instantly Daniel shouting "Yes!" arms waving in the arm. Ellie also felt a lot more confident that she had begun to battle and hadn't yet been harmed. Although, that wasn't going to be true for that much longer. The boy could tell that the opponent wasn't happy and seemed ready to pounce of Ellie. He could only fathom the word "dodge" before the Shelmet was attached to Audino. Ellie began to run in circles, blinded by the sudden pokemon on her face. Not aware of it's intension she began to panic and cry out, "Auuu, Audinooo!" Before long she felt herself began to tire. Was this because of the running around or was the Shelmet using it's attack? "leech life!" Daniel cried, soon realizing what the move was, he almost panicked as much as the Audino was. He knew that if the pokemon was draining life for to long Ellie wouldn't stand a chance; so he had to think of what to do. "Erm, sweetie... use Sweet kiss, then attempt pound!" He called, hoping the attacks would still work with such a close range. The Audino almost missed the commands as her head shook back and forth, trying to get the Shelmet off her face. But Ellie did as she was told and blew a kiss hoping it would hit the enemy. Unsure how that went she smacked her hand upward, trying to inflict some pain on the snail-like pokemon. Ellie was already beginning to regret attacking and for the first time felt like hitting Daniel instead.[/style]

Too focused on sucking life from the Audino, and the feeling as some of his strength started to return, he could not avoid the sweet kiss. Immediately confused about what he was doing, he pulled back, releasing Ellie from his attack. Trying again, he accidentally clamped his helmet down on his mouth and recoiled in pain. Back in his shell, he didn't notice the Audino come down for another pound, and was caught completely off guard once again. The bug-type was too dazed and confused to retaliate for the time being.

Breathing in fresh air she almost forgot the second move she'd been commanded to do and used pound, what also hit. Yet, it seemed just before it did, the pokémon clamped his helmet down, harming and blinding himself. Ellie couldn't help but let out a little giggle at the silly Shelmet and feel much better about the battle by the second. Daniel, too, was finding it quite humorous and found talking quite a challenge. Although, Daniel was one who found talking always quite hard, even when he wasn't laughing at some silly pokémon. But in situations including others he didn't like sounding stupid or immature. Sure he loved acting like a child and feeling like one, but being so in front of someone else was almost embarrassing. Yet, it was almost one hundred percent certain that a teenager was insecure about something, right? After coming out of his head and these thoughts, the boy got his head back into the battle. His pokémon didn't know many offensive moves, well in fact, she only really knew pound. The rest were more to distract, help or heal others. Daniel thought he may need a new pokémon, but he had heard about trainers doing that and finding it so hard. It would be best if he trained his Audino, then caught something else. Once again it seemed like he was lost in thought and snapped himself out of it by shouting a command. "E-Ellie! Use Pound a-again!" After the rushed words left the boy's mouth, he clamped his hands over it. Daniel had to turn away from the confused pokémon to help him stop laughing and therefore meant he couldn't see his Audino attack. Yet, Ellie seemed to be doing just fine on her own. she gulped down her giggles and lifted a hand, getting closer to the Shelmet. With a small gap between them she brought down her hand, wandering if the pokémon would attempt to dodge and how successful her move would be. Yet, not to panicked anymore, Ellie found she wasn't rushing, or trying to be very accurate.[/style]

Once more, the pound attack hit, but this time it seemed to have more of an effect on the bug-type. The confused pokemon had been about to open up again and try to retaliate, his head a little clearer for the moment, when his helmet was clamped down by the force of the attack. There was a moment where the Shelmet remained still, before he wobbled and fell over, his helm opening a bit. He was still conscious, but clearly unable to battle. It would take one move to finish him off, or the trainer could attempt to catch him.

The shelmet didn't look like he'd be able to take very much more and this made Ellie feel a little bad. Like most Audino she had a thing for helping people out and generally making sure pokémon and people are okay. Yet, being on the giving end of pain isn't something she was use to. But Audino wasn't wild anymore, and this meant she had to do as Daniel told her, no question. It wasn't like she didn't have a say in what did go on with them, but she knew his word was final. Daniel watched excitingly as the shelmet attempted to move, yet seemed to find this an extremely difficult task. After a while of wobbling about, it finally fell to the ground. He could tell it wasn't yet over, but the pokémon didn't seem able to battle. "Now's our chance..." he subconsciously said under his breathe. Looking toward Ellie Daniel dramatically pointed a finger at the Shelmet. She knew what was coming next, but felt best to let him have his moment and seem 'cool'. "Let's do this Ellie, finish it with another pound!" It looked like Daniel had been watching too many pokémon battles on television where all the trainers are over-dramatic. Yet it felt good for him to feel like one of them, like he'd actually accomplished something. Ellie, being given her command, readied herself. It wasn't going to be a difficult hit, due to the fact that the Shelmet wasn't really moving. Like on many previous occasions, the Audino lifted an arm, ready to bring in down on the opponent for another Pound attack. Perhaps if she did keep battling she could level and learn some more offensive moves...[/style]
