Normally a trip like this would have Diablo and Jess biting at the reigns to get going, but this time around it was a little bittersweet. Actually, almost full blown bitter. Diablo, it seems, was a little upset that his pidgey friend had been traded for a not so reactive egg. The same egg that Jess had been cuddling like she normally would with him. He simply couldn’t understand how an egg of all things could so captivate his trainers attention, and planned on making it perfectly clear that he was not ok with it.
Jessica couldn’t understand the little fire type’s reaction to the egg. Yes, she had traded the pidgey for the ralts egg, but the trainer in the red cap seemed decent enough. She supposed it was because Diablo had pretty much convinced the little flying type to join them without a fight. Sure, she was a little sad that her decision had hurt her partner, but it seemed to be a real pain to get a hold of a ralts, let alone a female ralts.
She always thought it was odd when male ralts evolved into gardevoir. That’s more of a personal thing though.
Diablo hopped along a good distance in front of Jess, but he wasn’t being his normal playful self. He stayed far enough ahead that he could nearly ignore her existence, and yet stay out of trouble. It’s a difficult line to dance on, but he seems to manage it so well. Jess could only sigh and hug the egg tighter to her. Sure, she’d miss the little pidgey, but she couldn’t pass up the chance at having a psychic on her team. Not with the rumors she’s been hearing about the bonds between psychic pokemon and their trainers.
Besides, Diablo would eventually get over it.
And it’s not like she handed the pidgey over to a trainer that would abuse it or anything… right?
Shaking the thought out of her head she turned her attention to her angry little partner. ”Diablo, wait up!” She called, jogging up to him while trying not to jostle the egg too much. The little orange puff ball seemed to snort at the request but did pause for his trainer to catch up. He was upset, but he wasn’t always going to remain so. Jess set herself on the ground and smiled at her little friend in an attempt to patch things up. Diablo seemed to consider it, then turned around and looked the other way.
”Yeah… I’d need some time too…” Jess replied quietly, deciding to take a few minutes breather before heading further in.
