It always felt nice to relax, especially when the day seemed to be winding down, minute by minute. The blonde slumped onto the city bench, still somewhat tired from passing the huge bridge that separated him from the lower regions of Unova. He sighed, fingers absently running along the smooth skin of the dratini coiled up on his knee, her head tucked in the rest of her body to avoid the sunlight, as she obviously napped. The two had recently come back from the pokemon center, as well, seeing as two battles in a row had left the poor dragon a little exhausted. "You did great today, by the way~" he hummed, eyes closed for a moment. His compliment received a simple squeak from the serpentine creature as she breathed.
The buzz of the people walking by was enough to comfort the teen into believing that he was out of that route three isolation once more, and he had to open one eye just to confirm that his mind was not playing tricks on him. He was staying out of the way of the more used routes to the desert- been there, done that. He never really liked sandiles, and darumaka were... well, to be honest, chicken nuggets set on fire. He sighed at the thought of them. Scraggys weren't too mad, but he was never exactly a fan of fighting types, either. Tapping the fingers of his free hand on the side of the bench absently, he followed the beat of the footsteps going past him. If one listened long enough, there was the faint tune that came from it all.
He would stay in his mild mood for now; after all, there wasn't anybody here to impress, or to prove wrong. Everybody was on their own way, on their phones, not even paying mind to him. If he had suspected that somebody was watching him, he would have moved long ago, off to seek protection from any watching eyes by striking conversation with the most random stranger he could find. He could usually take his mind off such... scary, topics, by taking pleasure in the annoyance of the stranger when he insisted on keeping up a horrible conversation. It was bound to work every time!
Cyrus blinked his eyes open, flinching for a moment as he jolted upright. Miko lazily raised her head to look around and, seeing no danger, re positioned herself. The boy surely thought he had heard footsteps right in front of him, those of an older person, judging by the sound of the shoes. Or perhaps it had been nothing at all, just his mind focusing on a separation pattern of feet that had decided to stay from the rest of them. Scanning the area once more, he slowly rested back against the bench again, shaken. He could feel one of his legs trembling, earning a soft mew of disapproval from the dratini on it. "S-Sorry, I just thought... Nevermind.... Sorry, Mik." he huffed, frowning a little. "Sorry, sorry..." he breathed again, more to comfort himself back into his relaxed sit than talk to the pokemon. Maybe it was best to leave soon...

[/div][/sub] Light footsteps were drowned out by the city crowd while Haruka walked through Castelia City. A slight click sound could be heard as the pokeballs of Seraph, her Scyther, and Amynta, her Shellder, bumped against one another. Haruka's outfit was plain and didn't draw eyes. A black shirt made of light black material and a pair of gym pants that were made from thin gray fabric.
While Haruka walked, hands in her pockets, she listened to the buzz of activity around her. As she rounded a turn she heard a man yelling at a blue-tooth that hung from his ear. Another corner and she saw a group of teenage girls who were talking excitedly and giggling. An activity Haruka could never understand but was able to easily drown out.
Cities were nothing new to Haruka, but a city like this was a bit tiring. In Kanto she had lived in Fuchsia City, but that city wasn't nearly as active and loud as this one. Then again, it seemed the Unova Region as a whole was a much more energetic place. This thought was something Haruka was simply tired out by thinking. So many people going to jobs, rushing to other cities, heck some simply fooled around with all they had.
That's why the sight of a blond haired boy sitting at a bench with his tired Dratini was an eye catcher. At this time of day Haruka didn't see many people just sitting around, doing nothing. It was a refreshing sight and reminded her of the many people who went to Fuchsia City and spent much of the day just relaxing and enjoying its scenery. Now that he'd caught her attention, Haruka had to investigate if only just a little.
Neutral expression masking any of her curiosity or other emotions as usual, Haruka approached the boy, walking through the crowd that continually flooded the sidewalk and streets. She was just about there when she felt a hand brush across the seat of her pants. It wasn't like the brush you get when you're simply moving to fast and accidentally bump into the person. It was a deliberate brush.
With a quick flicker of anger crossing her face Haruka reached back, grabbed the hand, and roughly pulled the man over his shoulder and slammed him onto the ground. Face neutral again, she roughly dislocated a few of his fingers before shooing him away and sitting on a bench near to the nervous looking boy. It didn't cross Haruka's mind that he may have seen the small display or been bothered by it at all.

So there hadn't been anyone after all. Was his mind really that twisted, to make him think that one person, among a sea of others, would pick him specifically out? He had to admit to himself that the whole idea sounded a bit silly, to say the least, but it was still one that frightened him. "Nobody cares about you, stay calm..." he breathed to himself, focusing on the dratini curled up on his knee instead of the rest of the crowd. He refused to focus on the buzz again, with the fear that another startling event would happen, making him move from his semi content perch. Or, at least it had been more content, before the quick footsteps he thought he had heard. "Gone like the wind..."
Unfortunately, the quiet bubble that he had managed to envelope himself in was popped, by the startled and pained cry of a man a a few feet off. Not nearly as jumpy as the time before, Cyrus simply lifted his head to look over at the scene, as a few other individuals had done. Of course, they had carried on. Better places to be than watch some man get what he was asking for. His eyes rose to see which culprit could have done it. Perhaps another man, and they were both drunks. Two gay lovers, in a quarrel. He couldn't help but picture a cat fight, with two men in cat suits with whiskers, and ears- hold the phone. Why the hell was he picturing that in the first place? Shaking his head, the boy let out a puff of air with closed eyes before looking back at the situation, attention caught at the frame of a female, more so than a male.
'Eh? What now?' He tilted his head a little, watching as the woman approached. Not sure whether to be irritated that he would have to put on a show (and right when he was starting to relax) to mask himself, or scared that a woman who had just caused a man physical pain was coming closer, until she was sitting next to him. On edge for a few brief moments, he forced himself to look relaxed, before grinning lazily and looking over at her. "Have you come to sweep me off my feet, too~?" he hummed, getting a curious look from the dratini on his knee. Ignoring the odd glare, he simply sighed. "Ah, pardon my manners. It should be the other way around. But don't tell me you're going to punish me for being bad, too?"
He had gone through too many rehearsals of this. It was almost as if he actually meant the words he said, while in his own reality, they were just a mask, and something to amuse himself. He honestly enjoyed the angry flush or embarrassed blush harassed out of the females he talked to. That, or a slap to the face. Anger, and how people engaged it, was always one of the more interesting things to him. He made sure every line dripped off his tongue like poison, taunting even. As if daring them to fight back, just so he could say something else completely ridiculous.
"And why, me, of all the suitors to choose from, darling~?"

[/div][/sub] Haruka could see the boy was tense when she sat down a few feet away from him. The way his posture sat, a bit rigid, before suddenly relaxing. It was a forced gesture and Haruka had no idea why he'd go through the trouble. Most people usually let themselves stay tense or on edge when someone new or that they were uncomfortable with approached. Heck, that was one of the few ways one could read her emotions!
Those brief moments it took the boy to forcefully relax himself felt so long to Haruka. She had expected that he would be different than the other passerby, that's why she had approached, but now it seemed the boy was going to be even more different. With his forced calm Haruka couldn't help but sigh a bit, already feeling exasperated when the boy turned to look at her. In response she turned her neutral expression onto him, ready for him to speak.
Of all the things this boy could have said Haruka didn't think she'd get flirting. Flirting was such an annoying activity. All the times she'd seen it done it was to try and bother the other person. Haruka disliked social interaction, and flirting only made it worse. Still, she imagined that the boy wasn't really flirting, it seemed to be another forced thing so she thought a second about what to do in response.
The first thing that came to mind was to hit him, but Haruka really wasn't that upset about it. If she was she'd have punched the bench she was sitting on, or her expression would have faltered if only for a second. Instead she felt no urge to break the bench she was sitting on nor enough anger to break her mask. With that thought out of the way she found herself considering flirting back. No, never, not in a million years.
So, the last option was just to respond like he hadn't just tried to flirt with her. This wouldn't be very hard, she was good at blocking things out and she could easily pretend she hadn't heard his words. But the issue was what to say. Haruka had never been a very good conversationalist so starting new conversations was an annoying and stressful thing for her. So, she just went with instinct.
"You can stop your flirting now. It's obvious you're not serious and that you're forcing it." Haruka's monotone voice floated through the air towards the boy while she spoke, "I came over here because I was curious about why a boy, a teenager, was sitting all alone on a bench. Most of the children I've seen today were running around, making enough noise to drown out a marching band and doing anything that came to mind."

"Hmmm~?" He hadn't exactly been listening at first- had she even said anything? Cyrus was looked away to focus his attention on a group of obnoxiously chattering teenage females across the street. 'Only advantages are the skirts and the bodies' he sighed to himself, mind wandering to why the female population always found it necessary to gossip and giggle like fools. "Such a silly sight, isn't it?" He sighed again, more to Mikros than the other woman.
He propped an elbow up on the side of bench (the arm rest, naturally) and cradled his head in hand, looking at the group of females from a half lidded gaze, not sure whether to be amused that they could talk for so long without breathing, or annoyed that he could hear the endless chatter. "And sound..." He grunted a little, turning his attention away from the group and back on Haruka, pausing and smiling a little as she called him out. He shrugged and grinned again, although the expression seemed tired if nothing else. The darker circles underneath his drooping eyelids were probably beginning to show; he knew it. The boy hadn’t gotten more than an hour of sleep in the past three days- of course he would be exhausted! He only started realizing how much he was dozing off when he finally started relaxing.
Sitting up a little to try and wake himself up, Cyrus cleared his throat to prepare for a response. ”Maybe I’m just not feeling up to it today~” he grunted, even though he was trying to make his tone sound the same. He was frowning on the inside, really. ”I’m so serious. I- … Ohh, so I left you feeling curious?” Another grin as the woman continued speaking. It wasn’t exactly boosting his ego, but the words were enough to amuse him for the time being. ”Ah. So you’re just bored~ And curious? I’ve been out all day, I was just winding down. Nobody to talk to, really~ I could always be stereotypical and ask for a battle, but I’m pretty sure that’s not why you approached.” He actually wouldn’t mind the training for the sleepy dratini, maybe even his other pokemon, who weren’t nearly as experienced yet. He could have cared less, though.

[/div][/sub] This boy made Haruka curious. The way his attention swept from one thing to another, his observations of the other children his age. His opinions about the bunch of teenagers was especially curious. Most of the time Haruka found people complaining about how they couldn't join in on the idiocy that is a group of teenagers. The boy's curious mix of flirty, deceitful, and even some form of maturity drew a barely visible grin to her face. Only for a second, but it was there.
When the boy looked back to her she noticed the slight darkness under his lids, and the way his whole expression seemed to lack energy. It seemed the boy had been neglecting to sleep, not that it was Haruka's concern, how people spent their days was their business. The beginning of his response was as to be expected and Haruka was glad when he switched to her other comment about curiosity.
"Yes, bored and curious would sum it up." After speaking Haruka listened to the boy. So, he'd been doing things all day and was now winding down? Well, the look in his eyes told her that he needed it. Haruka continued to listen as the boy spoke of how he could be the stereotypical trainer and request a battle, and it was true, he could. Honestly, Haruka would have been fine with a battle. Her pokemon needed training.
"You're correct, I didn't approach you because I wanted a battle. I came up to you because I was bored and curious." Haruka paused here, just for a second, monotone voice hanging in the air, "But if you're not too tired, a battle would be a great way to relieve the boredom. I have a new pokemon who needs a bit of training."
Knowing about their speed and defense once they evolve, Haruka had recently picked up a Nincada from a Pokemon Ranch. It was low leveled and a bit meek but she knew a bit of training would be good for it. A battle at the moment would be good, "So, are you up to it?"

It certainly was a new experience for the boy; to just make casual conversation, as opposed to intentionally making a fool out of himself. He could only glance over at the woman occasionally- why was it that he didn't want to offend her? Normally the blond would have leaped at the chance to make this victim feel uncomfortable, make her mad, make her hit him. But why not today? He frowned to himself, staring at the ground for what seemed like hours, until the feminine voice offered a response. He blinked awake, even though his eyes had been open the whole time.
"What a horrible mix." he sighed, slumping in his bench seat. He only listened as the woman spoke, staring ahead blankly, not even watching the gossip-filled group of teenagers (who were slowly drifting away, anyway) anymore. "Hm? Do I look that tired? You shouldn't assume things, ya' know~" he offered a fake grin over at the stranger, eyes half lidded, against his words and will. "I'm not one to turn down a challenge, especially if it's by a girl~ I'd love to... engage you." He laughed a little, moving his knee slightly to stir the dratini.
"C'mon Miko, we're winning~" Another emotionless chuckle escaped his lips, and he gently wrapped his hands around the blue serpent, setting her to the ground before standing. Offering a hand and another small smile to the blonde woman, he stood in front of her for a brief moment. Glancing at the extended hand, he soon frowned and took a step away. "I'd like to keep all my fingers intact, if you don't mind. And I'm sure you're capable of getting up on your own~". Followed by Mikros, Cyrus took a step to an open area, yawning briefly.
"You first, darling~".
