The sweet melody held a tainted sound of sadness as it weaved its way through the breeze that blew the cool sand across roads and the small amount of people that spent the night in its borders. The sound spread outwards from a source that sat on a large rock about halfway down the road.
The source, a young woman with blond hair and cold lavender eyes, gently pulled a black violin bow across the strings of an onyx colored violin. The instrument shone in the moonlight and reflected the luminous orb with its well polished cover. Its notes told a sad story and seemed to slowly move through the air, unable to pick up speed due to the weight of the emotions.
All throughout her playing the woman showed no emotion. Her face a mask of neutrality she played her music. Breezes caused her hair to sway but rarely caught her attention while the blown sand did little besides cause her to shut her eyes slightly. The cool temperature the nighttime desert took on bothered her little, her light clothing, devoid of any kind of jacket, offered little resistance to the cold but this fact didn't seem to bother the girl.
Standing infront of her, twin blades glinting much like her violin, stood a Scyther. The Mantis Pokemon's eyes constantly scanned the ground while the woman played. This pokemon's name was Seraph, and it belonged to the woman, who went by her last name Benoit, though her true name was Haruka. Haruka originated from Kanto but had moved to Unova not long ago.
"Seraph, calm yourself, we haven't encountered a single pokemon all day. And if we do I'm sure we'll have fair warning thanks to our mutual awareness." Haruka spoke with a silent tone, voice neutral but carrying an air of intelligence. As she spoke the young woman ceased moving the bow, putting it and its accompanying violin into a black leather case, gray inner padding holding the items tightly.
After releasing a silent sigh she stood up. At the sound of Haruka's feet pressing into the sand Seraph looked over his shoulder, ready to move out. After giving a slight nod Haruka hooked the violin case over her shoulder and began to walk down the sand-dirtied road.

A slight sigh escaped her as she looked over shoulder, unsurprised to see Seraph tensing out of the corner of her eye. Seraph hadn't had a good battle since getting to Unova, but the pokemon seemed to be non-hostile. Curious, Haruka pulled out her pokedex, turning its volume to low before pointing it at the orange bird.
Torchic, the Chick Pokemon. It has a flame sac inside its belly that perpetually burns. It feels warm if it is hugged. After listening to the voice, which spoke barely above a whisper thanks to her volume lowering, she stared at the pokemon. A quick scan of its data told her that it was a Hoen native pokemon.
Haruka remembered tahat her father had taken a few trips to Hoen and she vaguely remembered a mention of this pokemon. When it evolved into a Blaziken it should be relatively quick and a powerful Fire/Fighting type. After a few seconds of consideration she took a step back and nodded her head forward, and order for it to stand infront of her.
"Seraph, Agility." The order was quiet, her lips barely parted as she gave it. The Agility would assure that the Scyther had the advantage when it came to speed throughout the battle. It would be necessary if the pokemon knew any fire-attacks. When Seraph adjusted his position Haruka knew that the Agility was complete and that he would grow impatient if she didn't give him another order.
Still, it took a second for Haruka to think up another move. They could open up with an attack but if the pokemon caught on fast enough it could avoid it. On top of that, if the Torchic had any fire-type moves it could blast Seraph. A well aimed fire move could end the battle and then she'd have to try and get Amynta to cooperate. Best to play it safe.
"Now, rush it, use Double Team and encircle it when in range." Another silent order and Seraph was off, insane speed kicking up the bit of sand. Once it was only a foot or so away from the chirping bird it began to split, plan to trap it in a circle of Double Team.

Torchic | Level 8 | Male | Speed Boost Knows Focus Energy and Growl and Scratch The Torchic heard the soft hum of a pokedex speaking, and then suddenly He was surrounded by a bunch of green pokemon that looked exactly the same. He was acting on pure instinct when he used growl, and then following up with a scratch.

Any pokemon aside from a Slowpoke would have responded to this move with at least mild surprise. Haruka watched calmly when the Torchic released a Growl. It would lower Seraph's attack a bit but shouldn't have changed too much.
Thanks to the Double Team the Scratch missed, slicing into one of the doubles but also dispelling the rest of them. Seraph quickly rushed forward, speed allowing the distance to be covered in almost no time at all. After thinking for a short second Haruka looked up. If it had fire-type moves wouldn't it have opened with one? Then again, it may not have known Seraph was a bug type. It didn't matter.
"Seraph, use an upward Night Slash, try and follow it up with an Air Slash." Haruka spoke, wanting to do as much damage as quickly as possible. Just because it didn't use an Ember or other fire-attack didn't mean that the pokemon couldn't at all. If they could get it tired enough it wouldn't even be an option.
Listening to Haruka, Seraph drew one of it's scythes back. Darkness enveloped it, making it hard to see, before he drove it towards the Torchic in an uppercut movement. Back turned to the bird after using it, it went on instinct and shot an Air Slash through the air where the Torchic should have been if the attack hit. At the same time, Seraph knew that either of these attacks could have missed.

Torchic | Level 8 | Male | Speed Boost Knows Focus Energy and Growl and Scratch So yes, the Torchic did not know any fire-type moves. That probably gave him the losing hand in the battle. In his moment of pure shock from the other clones disappearing, he felt himself skid to the spot right where the air slash was, and both attacks hit him head on. The little chick pokemon had to bite back the urge to cry. He didn't ask for this! But, instead of whimpering, he used focus energy and ran up to scratch at the Scyther.

The battle was going great and the longer it went on the more sure she became it didn't know any fire-type moves. This of course meant that the speed boost at the beginning was even better, as it meant that they didn't need it but it was an asset. Thinking a bit more speed would be nice Haruka nodded at Seraph.
"Seraph, use another Agility." Thinking that the Torchic would be preoccupied after taking so many hits she made the simple order. Haruka watched the pokemon tense before seeming to be lighter, his muscles becoming more toned so gaining speed would be even easier. With two Agilitys and his natural high amount of speed this should make the battle considerably easier.
Caught up in these thoughts of victory, and Seraph taking a second to recover from the Agility, the Focused Scratch attack hit head on. It seemed the Focus Energy did its job as Seraph was sent spinning backwards. With a slight sound of pain he hit the ground, standing up with a fiery anger in his eyes. Haruka knew that attack probably did a decent bit of damage, and that Seraph was probably none too happy about it.
"Damn. Seraph, use another Double Team!" A slight tone of annoyance could be heard in Haruka's voice as she gave the order. The battle had been so one sided and now that one hit could have evened it up. Now paying even more attention, Haruka watched as Seraph began to split into clones and circle the bird again.

Torchic | Level 8 | Male | Speed Boost Knows Focus Energy and Growl and Scratch He watched as the green bug pokemon was sent spinning back, and it let out a noise that sounded as if he got hurt from it. Maybe this fight wasn't going to last long, and the little orange pokemon could win this! Suddenly, he was surrounded by another circle of clones again. Damn! How was he supposed to know which one was the real one? The pokemon let out a growl, to lower the other's attack, before going at a random figure and using scratch, hoping that he got the real one and not a clone.
