The main reason for this is the fact that Azalia doesn't notice people often. Everything she sees is a blur and Azalia is often too busy trying to make sure no one runs into or grabs her, and that she doesn't run into anything, to notice people. Even when someone is right in front of her she may not notice since her poor eyesight will just blend them into the background. Once someone does get her attention it's likely that Azalia will speak to them, but not do much else. She won't try to become their friend, and on many occasions she may decide she doesn't need to talk to them politely either (though this part is much more common when she's hungover). This is because she doesn't trust people. In the past her trust was often stomped on and betrayed and it has made her reluctant to offer it. Earning her trust has become a challenge, one needs to patiently assure her that they really do care about her and must convince her that they won't do a face-heel-turn the moment it's offered. Whether this be through cheering her up when they see her upset or just helping her when she seems to need it is up to them. Any kind of help with one of her problems [depression and drinking] are great ways to earn her trust, though one would have to learn about them first. Though she doesn't show it, Azalia is very lonely and wants friends. Once you have her trust it's pretty much guaranteed you will become a friend. Betray the trust you earn and you've guaranteed yourself a slot as an enemy and one who will most likely never earn it again. This of course means romance is only available to those who have managed to earn her trust then go beyond by helping her further or just proving without a doubt that they care for her. Thanks to her lack of sight, appearance doesn't matter to Azalia, and with her multiple differences from most people she usually doesn't judge. This means any friend who has earned her trust to this point is eligible to become a love interest. Even when Azalia reaches this point where attraction may begin to show itself, she's apprehensive. At this point the fear of having her trust betrayed is stronger and is coupled with a fear of simply being rejected. This means she'll usually hold off on any kind of confession until she's sure the other person feels the other way. It is rare that this habit would be broken as doing so would heighten her fear and most likely cause her to chicken out. Once in a relationship, whether it be because she managed to confess or the other person did, Azalia is faithful and caring. Any iciness she still showed towards the person she is coupled with will have faded, trust strong and allowing her to open up a bit. Though this means her being kind more often it also means Azalia having problems hiding any depression, though she'll still try. This means anyone who develops a relationship with her should learn to, or already know how to, deal with bouts of her sadness. Azalia won't want her opposite at her house very often, as that's usually where she'll isolate herself to drink and succumb to any sadness. Even after the relationship is formed she will hide any secrets she still has mostly out of fear of the reaction. Enemies are only formed when someone begins to earn her trust, make her a bit less tense around them, make her slowly feel like she can go to them when upset. And then stomps on it. When someone earns her trust to a certain point, then betrays it, they will most likely earn Azalia's hate almost instantly. While hate is a strong word, it defines how she will feel perfectly. Enemies will be avoided and probably cussed out when trying to approach her. Once someone is an enemy, the chances of them earning any trust is far below average and nigh impossible.[/style] |
