Unova was such a foreign and interesting place to Kai. The atmosphere, the people, the weather..everything was so different than what she was used to in Johto. Even so, the change of scenery was nice, it meant she was really on her own, taking her journey to become a better pokemon trainer. She wanted to be strong, to be a great battler who could take on any challenge that came her way. Above nothing else, she would prove she wasn't weak. That was where her thoughts drifted that day as she walked down the path leading through Route 5. Ziva was trotting along at her heels, ears perked up and alert.
They needed to find wild pokemon to battle so that they could become stronger. Maybe even add some new members to their team. Kai was excited to see wild pokemon. She could hear them, but seeing them was a different story. There was no telling what she would come across, not even what type it would be. The mystery only served to excite her further. Maybe she would find a flying-type, she thought as she looked towards the sky. Or maybe it would be a bug-type, her eyes trailed back down to the ground. It could be anything really. She found herself changing course slightly, her footsteps drifting towards the treeline. Walking through the tall grass there, she glanced about some more. Where were all the pokemon? She was beginning to lose hope when she spotted a shuffling patch ahead of her. Ziva's ears twitched, her head snapping in the direction of the noise.

Kangaskhan | Level 7 | Early Bird | Female Knows Comet Punch and Leer and Fake Out The Kangaskhan was happily prancing through the field, singing her happy tune of Kangas. She had little idea of anyone nearby at all, so she was just sniffing the flowers, enjoying her day out. . .

A Kangaskhan! There was a Kangaskhan ahead of her, prancing and singing through the flowers! Kai nearly yelped in excitement. She had always admired pictures of the pokemon. It was so strong and intriguing, yet very nice looking. Most of the stronger pokemon did not appeal to the girl. This was one she would have to catch. She turned to her Eevee, a smile plastered on her face. "Alright Ziva, let's do this!" she pointed towards the Kangaskhan, not caring that her starter didn't have any trouble picking out the larger pokemon. "We'll start off with Covet!" Obeying her trainer's commands, Ziva dashed off through the field. She wondered if the Kangaskhan would notice her before she got close enough. Picking up speed, she leapt into the air and swiped at the Kangaskhan's arms. It was higher than she was used to for this attack, but if her paws managed to dig into the other normal-type's arms it would surely hurt. Ziva was determined to do her best here, even if the Kangaskhan was so much bigger and more intimidating. The little Eevee had a special ability though, her Adaptability gave her normal-type moves a little extra power compared to normal. Kai watched hopefully. In truth she wanted neither pokemon to be hurt, but the Kangaskhan had to be weakened for her to be able to capture it. Hopefully Ziva didn't overexert herself, but so far everything looked fine. It would be an interesting battle. Neither pokemon had a type-advantage, but the Kangaskhan looked like it would be stronger than the little Eevee. If necessary, she had her Pichu and Mareep as back-up. She hoped it wouldn't come to that. Kangaskhan | Level 7 | Early Bird | Female Knows Comet Punch and Leer and Fake Out All of a sudden The Kagaskhan looked down to see an Eevee. >Well hello there little one!< Then all of a sudden she felt a stab of pain go up her leg, and she leered down at the Eevee unintentionally. It was attacking her! Before she could process much more, she jerked her arm back, and then forwards again in a motion to comet punch the other.

Kai watched on anxiously as her Eevee fought the Kangaskhan. The two normal-types were going at it now, though Kai had to wonder if this was the right thing to do. The Kangaskhan had not seemed hostile and she had sent Ziva to attack her. Would this detriment her chances of actually befriending the pokemon? Oh well, she could always try to apologize later. Maybe the Kangaskhan would understand her reasons. She was sure that she could work with the Kangaskhan and have a valuable team member. A strong, powerful, pokemon to help take care of tougher opponents. As the Leer hit, Ziva flinched slightly. She could feel her defenses lower as a shiver ran down her spine. She didn't back down though, refusing to give up that easily. Seeing the larger pokemon's arm pull back, she quickly darted out of the way. Just barely making it, she hoped she could manage to do that a second time. The punch wasn't too powerful, but the multiple hits were her worry. A sigh of relief escaped the trainer; she had held her breath as the large kangaroo began her attack. "Ziva! Give her a Tackle!" hearing her trainer's orders, the Eevee slammed all her weight into the Kangaskhan. Kai crossed her fingers; if the Kangaskhan used Comet Punch again and hit, it would probably hurt her starter a lot. It seemed like this fight could still go either way, but the Kangaskhan looked significantly stronger than Ziva. Kai's mind was already racing through options and plans. Kangaskhan | Level 7 | Early Bird | Female Knows Comet Punch and Leer and Fake Out Honestly, the Kangaskhan didn't want to hurt the little eevee. Not at all, she wanted it's opinion on which flower she seemed to like best. She didn't want to fight anyone, at least, not right now. But she was acting purely on instinct, and within that instinct, she was sent back by the tackle and threw a leer before fake out at her opponent.

The trainer was growing more and more nervous by the second. Doubts about what she was doing and why she was doing it continued to plague her mind. Second guessing her every command, she was beginning to hesitate. The Kangaskhan seemed flustered, like she didn't want to fight. Kai debated about stopping the battle, but was afraid of the larger normal-type taking out her anger on Ziva. Though there did not appear to be any anger or rage, she was still worried. As Ziva pulled back from her tackle, she was caught in the Kangaskhan's leer. A shiver ran down her spine, but she prepared to continue the battle. She was ready to attack, but something was wrong. No commands were coming from Kai, and Ziva was curious as to why. The little Eevee stopped for a moment to look back at her trainer. Why wasn't she saying anything? Her lack of attention at the moment left her wide open for the large kangaroo's fake out. The slap jolted her attention back to the battle. Without waiting for Kai, the little Eevee leapt in for another Covet. Now even more flustered, Kai began to panic. Ziva has been hit by two attacks in a row, and it was her fault. Now her starter was attacking on her own. She was inexperienced and failing her partner. Taking a deep breath, she tried to clear her thoughts. This was just their first battle, she could do this. Even if they lost, they could learn from this later. She refocused on the task at hand. They could still salvage this battle, they still had a chance to anyway. The wild pokemon had went for Ziva's defense; they could return the favor. "Ziva! Use Tail Whip!" she wanted to even the playing field out again. Understanding, the Eevee turned and wagged her tail towards the Kangaskhan. Kangaskhan | Level 7 | Early Bird | Female Knows Comet Punch and Leer and Fake Out She didn't want to fight, and she could feel her energy dwindling closer and closer to zero, but she still had some left- no matter how little. She was hit with the covet, sent skidding back a little, but she stumbled closer, and then used another comet punch, too tired to think about using something else.

Their opponent appeared to be getting weaker, and Kai was wondering how much longer she should prolong the battle. If she tried to capture the Kangaskhan too soon, she risked wasting a pokeball, but if she waited too long, she might miss her chance. One more attack, she decided. Reaching into the messenger bag slung over her right shoulder, she fished out one of the small red-and-white balls contained within. "Ziva, use Tackle one more time!" she clutched the pokeball tightly, nervous about the whole thing. This was her first battle against a wild pokemon, and her first attempt at capturing something. She just hoped she was doing this right. If nothing else, ending the battle soon would be better for her own pokemon. Listening to her trainer's orders, the small Eevee ran towards the Kangaskhan. Her attempt to slam her weight into the larger pokemon caused her to come right into the Comet Punch attack. The attack caused Ziva a considerable amount of pain. She stumbled, but tried to continue her attack. The small starter was prepared for the battle to continue, and was expecting retaliation from the Kangaskhan. Kai on the other hand was growing impatient. Part of her wanted to wait, but she was so nervous that she didn't think everything through. Not even waiting to see if the attack connected, Kai closed her eyes and threw the pokeball towards the Kangaskhan. She kept her eyes closed tightly, hoping that maybe if she didn't look it would bring her luck. Then again, nothing could be worse than her usual luck. Kangaskhan | Level 7 | Early Bird | Female Knows Comet Punch and Leer and Fake Out The kangaskhan was all of a sudden in the thick constraints of a pokeball. She tried to punch her way out, but it was no use. She was stuck. There was no possible way she could get out of this. She was captured. With the pokeball coming to a rest, Ziva let out a happy cry to alert her trainer. Cracking one eye open slowly, Kai saw that there was no longer a Kangaskhan towering over them. Instead, there was a now full pokeball. A wide grin spread over Kai's face as she pranced over to the small sphere. Picking it up gently, she held it in her hand for a moment. "I'm sorry Kangaskhan, I'll make it up to you. I promise," she spoke, not caring if the pokemon could actually hear her or not. For now, she would allow the the normal-type to rest. Kneeling down to Ziva, she gently scratched the area underneath the Eevee's chin. "You did a good job," she praised. The tired Eevee did not resist the human's show of affection, though she did not care for it too much. After a few moments, her ears suddenly perked up. She had heard a sound not far from where they were. It was a high-pitched sound, something her trainer could not hear, and it was coming towards them. Getting defensive, Ziva turned to face the potential foe. Seeing what was going on, and realizing something had to be coming, Kai quickly placed her newly captured Kangaskhan's pokeball into her bag and fished out another ball. "Ziva, you should rest," with that said, she released the pokemon she had chosen to let out. A Mareep was let out from the swirl of red energy. He shook of his fur, glad to be free from the tight confinements he had been kept in. Noticing the same sound that Ziva had, he hummed happily. Would he be getting into a battle today? The thought delighted the electric-type. It did not take much longer for the Zubat to be spotted overhead. Without even waiting for a command, Fontaine used Thunderbolt to try to knock his new opponent from the air. Kai made a mental note to get better control of the battle-lover, but it was too late this time. At least the experience would be good for them both. \ Zubat | Level 5 | Infiltrator | Female Knows Leech Life and Supersonic Without knowing anything was going on, the Zubat was suddenly shocked by a bolt of lightning. It was a shock to him, never being hit by such a thing before, and he suddenly smelled the smell of. . . Cooking something. He turned around, and instantly went to bite into the mareep, leeching some life out of it.

Kai felt bad for the Zubat. It had been doing nothing to bother them, but here they were attacking it. Was she really cut out for being a trainer? She felt bad..and yet, she was enjoying it. The battles were turning out to be fun, and if it was really bad then it wouldn't be allowed. It was perfectly normal for her to enjoy battles, there was nothing wrong with it. She continued to justify it within herself. The part of her that enjoyed the combat and the part of her that didn't want to hurt innocent pokemon were at war with each other. For now, the battling side was winning. Seeing that the Zubat had turned on her Mareep, she shouted out orders, "He's getting in close, so use Tackle! Then use another Thunderbolt to make sure he doesn't fly out of reach!" Her team lacked a flying-type, so the Zubat would have an advantage in the air. Luckily she had two electric-types, so knocking the wild pokemon out of the air shouldn't be a problem. The prickly feeling of the Zubat's small teeth as it leeched life from Fontaine was uncomfortable. Shaking himself, the Mareep tried to make the lingering sting go away. Retaliation was quick upon hearing his trainer's commands. So she was finally taking interest in the battle, that was good. He attempted to slam his weight into the Zubat before she could get away, then shot another bolt of electricty at the bat. He was determined to win this battle. Zubat | Level 5 | Infiltrator | Female Knows Leech Life and Supersonic The attacks, however, were slightly weaker than what this female Zubat had ever been hit upside the head with. And yet, at the same time, they hurt all the same. It was the same, either way. And as the electric moved attacks hurled at him, hitting him, he forced a supersonic upon the lamb.

The Zubat was proving to be a tougher opponent than both trainer and pokemon had expected. She had been resilient, even against electric-type attacks. However, this only proved to make Fontaine even more determined, the small sheep ready to strike again. Challenges were always fun for him, and he would not allow a bat to get the better of him. Seeing the ripples as the supersonic attack was initiated, Kai called out to her pokemon. "Fontaine, move to the side and use Thunderbolt again!" Even if it wasn't much, that attack seemed to do more damage than tackle did. Reacting as quickly as he could, the Mareep darted out of the way of the sound waves. Confusion was an annoying status, but luckily the Zubat's attack wasn't too accurate. The thunderbolt came shortly after, aimed at the flying-type once again. The young pokemon wanted to end this battle as soon as he could, in a battle of endurance the Zubat would surely win. She was clearly a higher level than he was, he could rely only on his type advantage and the hope that the Zubat didn't have a super-strong attack in her arsenal. Kai in the meantime was considering a possible switch-out if things turned for the worse. Her Pichu, Aiks, should be enough to finish off the wild pokemon if needed. Hopefully it wouldn't come to that, as she knew Fontaine would not be happy with being removed from a battle, especially one that he believed he could win. The trainer would still do it if she had to. Fontaine Mareep | Electric-Type | Level 2 | Male | Plus Tackle | ThunderboltFontaine dodged SUPERSONIC Fontaine used THUNDERBOLT
