The wind blew through the bustling city of Nimbasa as children gathered at the entrance to the fair. As they bunched up together a little Riolu ran through the crowd trying to find it's Trainer. It ran crying out when it suddenly bumped into someone's leg. As it fell back onto it's butt a green haired youth, "Be careful Nikki." he said to his Riolu as he petted her and she let out a cry of happiness that made Naikara smile at it.
"Come on then Nikki, let's have fun." said the youth as he walked further into the fair with his Riolu following close behind. "What should we do?" he asked to his Riolu, who ran up to the Ferris wheel up ahead. Naikara couldn't help but chuckle to himself as he petted Nikki, "Not now Nikki, why don't we save that one for later?" he said with a smile at his Nikki as she pouted a little but began to wander around with Naikara following right behind her.
As he looked around he remembered all the times his parents brought him here to have fun, back when they were a family. Naikara wondered if he should drop in and say hello to the both of them, since they still lived in town, well he knew his mother still lived in town. His dad had disappeared from town a few years ago, which didn't really bother Niakara, since he didn't care. All he cared about today was having some fun today while he was in town.

Jess smiled lightly as a breeze swept across the open boardwalk area of the fair. There was nothing quite like this near her home town, and she wasn't the only one showing her excitement. Her partner, the currently one and only one at that, was practically jumping at the chance to have some fun. The little orange fluff ball that she called Diablo. Well the name wasn't entirely her fault. Her mother had named him before she saw him...
And Diablo refused to be called anything else.
Still it did fit. At the moment he was small and just constantly looking for trouble... and generally able to pull out of it. Then again it's only a matter of time before he got himself into something he couldn't get out of.
Oh well. He did have a way from keeping off the boredom monster, which is more than most could ask of their pokemon.
Speaking of, the little devil jumped from his position on her shoulder and hit the ground running. "Diablo!" She called out, immediately taking off after the unsteady chick. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. After all he is easily excitable. Hell, she'd consider herself lucky if he didn't burn the place down.
Still one can't train all the time without ending up like the muscle bound jock-types she despises so much. And besides, all this dodging in the crowd couldn't be anything but good for her small partner. Every experience could be turned into a 'training' exercise, after all.
The energetic fireball eventually paused long enough for Jess to catch up and scoop up in her arms. Good thing she had decided to pack various varieties of jeans... trying to catch up with him in a short skirt would have been too much of a pain. Besides, girls can feel feminine in jeans just as easily as in a skirt... just pair it with a nice corset top and your golden. Doesn't matter what variety of boots you're wearing with it.
"You are going to be the death of me," Jess said lowly, only to Diablo before tossing him up in the air and catching him again. He trilled happily scampering up her arm and back onto her shoulder, careful not to tangle himself in her long dark brown hair. "Now what was so interesting that you... ahhh..." A small stand off to her right was filled with all sorts of sweets and goodies. No wonder her had run off! Who could resist?

The little Riolu began picking up pace, nearly leaving her trainer behind as she scampered up to a small stand that was serving all kinds of treats that had caught her eye. "Is this what you wanted?" he calmly asked his partner, he always did like to treat her nicely when he could. She was the first ever Pokemon he had meet when he left home. Since then, the two had always been close. Nikki let out a little cry as she pointed to the stand, pointing to a small bag of cookies that she was eyeing, "Alright Nikki, I'll buy you some." Naikara said with a smile as he reached into his pocket for his money.
As he searched his pockets he noticed a Torchic running through the crowd and to the same stand he hand Nikki were at. Both Trainer and Pokemon tilted their heads as they eyed the Torchic with curiosity until a girl came by and picked it up and looked over to the stand. Naikara looked at the two, it seemed like this girl's Torchic ran off on it's own, similar to what Nikki had done a few moments ago. "Seems like I'm not the only one with Pokemon troubles." the young man said with a smile to the girl and her Torchic.
Nikki walked up to the girl and smiled at her, which made Naikara chuckle at the way his partner was acting. He knew she liked to be friendly, but it always made him laugh at the way she did it, "Please excuse my Nikki, she's a very friendly type, what brings you here miss? Are you here to have some fun as well?" he asked her and he picked up Nikki and placed her on his shoulder where she sat there stilling smiling at the girl and Torchic.

Jess was just about to pick something out for her partner when a smooth voice called her attention. Then again, if she had been paying close attention to Diablo, she would have noticed him in the first place. The other trainer was rather hard to miss, after all. Cute with very green hair and eyes. She smiled at his polite greeting, finding it interesting that anyone in her age range would refer to someone as a 'miss'. Normally she only gets Ms'd by elderly trainers. It was a rather unusual, but somewhat flattering at any rate.
"I guess you could say that," Jess replied, ruffling the Torchic's feathers gently. "Diablo can be difficult at times but he means well."
Speaking of Diablo, he was sizing up to two and assessing the threat... though mostly his mind was occupied with the thought of how to bring his human trainers attention back to the table of goodies to one side of her. He glanced over Nikki, who appeared friendly enough for another trainers pokemon. At the very least she wasn't making any threatening moves so Diablo would let her be. Besides, the cakes on the table were looking much more interesting.
Jess's eyes fell to the pokemon approaching her, and a warm feeling passed over her. What was it with baby pokemon? They just automatically had this innocence to them that just melted her. "Well aren't you adorable?" she asked, smiling and kneeling down so she was just about eye level with the pokemon. "Nikki, was it?" She pulled out her pokedex and let it scan the pokemon in front of her.
Riolu, the Emanation Pokémon. When sad or scared, Riolu's aura becomes stronger as a way of signaling its allies.
'Fascinating...' Jess thought before glancing up at the trainer who had addressed her. She had to chuckle at his comment, after all it was rather amusing. "I didn't know there was something else to do at a carnival like this other than have fun." She only teased him lightly, considering that she didn't even know his name at the moment.
"I'm Jessica by the way," She continued offering her hand out to shake his. That was the least she could do, after all she did just scan his pokemon without asking... not that many wait to ask. "And yes, we are here to relax, take in the sites, and have some fun."
Diablo flapped his little under-formed wings as if he was agreeing the the statement... though more than likely he was just showing his impatience with conversation interrupting his carefully laid treat plan.

Naikara watched as the girl took out her Pokedex and scanned Nikki, which earned her not only Nikki's data, but a stare of confusion from Nikki as well. "It's okay, she's not harming you." he said to his partner as he patted her, reassuring the little Riolu. As he looked back to her he noticed she had offered her hand and said her name was Jessica, who was here to have fun as well. "Pleasure to meet you Jessica," he said as he took her hand and shook it, "I'm Naikara."
A paw poked at his cheek as he was still shaking Jessica's hand, so he looked over and saw Nikki pointing to the Torchic and then to her, then to the stand. "Oh right, I was going to buy you something Nikki," then a thought came to him, why not be a nice guy and treat the young girl and her Pokemon? He did have money to spare today, since he had made plans for this little trip a few days ago, and treating a lady to a nice time was always gentlemanly. "Oh, Jessica, would you and your Torchic, I mean Diablo, like something from the stand? I'm willing to pay."
He stood there smiling to the duo of Jessica and Diablo, he did find them real interesting. So being friendly to them might result in something good, and Naikara couldn't help but jump at that opportunity. It was always nice to try and make friends, even if the attempt did or did not result in a new friend, it was nice to try.

Nikki was acting like she had never been scanned by a pokedex before. It took reassurance from her trainer to be ok with it, which Jess thought was a great sign. Trust like that isn't fostered overnight as she knows only too well with Diablo. Pokemon with abusive trainers tend to be mean and those with trainers too soft tend to spoil their pokemon. Nikki's just adorable. Though Jessica is a little biased. After all, she just adores baby pokemon.
"Nice to meet you, Naikara," Jessica said warmly, returning the handshake. She normally didn't socialize with trainers... but this one said hello first and definitely seemed like at least a decent person. Most trainers she runs into just want to start a battle. They want to 'be the best' and will step on anyone to get there. Well, this is a cut throat profession... if you could call it that.
Nikki then poked her trainers face, trying to get his attention. The emanation pokemon pointed out the one thing that apparently both Jess and Naikara forgot... that both of them had come over to the table to buy a treat for their partners. Jess smiled and turned to pick out a little something for the two of them when Naikara offered to buy for the both of them.
"Oh I..." Jess started a little flustered. She's never been good at accepting gifts or things like gifts. Luckily Diablo took over for her by excitedly jumping on her shoulder and chirping. She chuckled, and glanced at Naikara, "I suppose that's a yes. Thank you." Without Diablo there she probably would have tried to politely back out... but that's part of the fun of having him around. He forces her into situations she normally wouldn't be thrust into.
Who can ask for a better traveling companion?
Speaking off Diablo slipped carefully off of Jessica's shoulder and moved to stand next to the bag he wanted. She probably could have guessed... a bag of some gummy candy. He trilled happily and moved back over to Jessica. For herself she picked up a lollipop... which looked more like a small piece of stained glass than a piece of candy... But what could she say? She's a sucker for suckers.
With the treats in one hand and Diablo being held in the crook of the other arm, she turned back towards Naikara. "It's really nice of you to pick these up for us." She said appreciatively, Diablo apparently cooing in agreement. It's not everyday that a stranger... or was it a newly made friend? offered to buy something for them.
It was really... rather sweet.
