| [atrb=style,margin-top:-5px;,bTable] it was one of those lazy summer days. there was hardly a breeze in the air and the sun hung heavily in the clear sky, its heat beating down mercilessly on anything in the open. lucy had ventured into pinwheel forest with the hopes of seeing more wild pokemon, but had soon given up. the heat was too much! she had even traded her usual jeans for denim shorts that reached mid-thigh (normally she was to self-conscious of her paper-white legs), but the heat was too much for even her to bear. so instead, she had ducked into the cool shade of the trees, sitting at the edge of the river. the trees cast a dappled shadow and the grass was cool against her fingers.
her quest to find more wild pokemon had been dropped, and instead, she decided today would just be a day to relax. she could already tell that many other trainers were following suit: there were clusters sheltering under the cool shade of the trees, some even splashing about in the river. lucy sat away from the other trainers, though she wasn't alone. both frieda and annika were out, rolling in the grass and playing around. the two had gotten even closer since that meeting in route one, though lucy didn't mind it. however, she had given annika a rare candy once she noticed that the little wurmple was behind in level.
lucy sat near the edge of the river, dipping her feet in the cool water. she wasn't usually so willing to get near large bodies of water, but anyone could tell that this was not a deep river at all. the water was clear and one could see the bottom of the river, and occasionally the flash of orange from a passing magikarp--or perhaps it was a lucky goldeen.
with a content sigh, lucy leaned back until she was lying down in the grass, her bucket hat tossed with her bag and the pokemon egg. the egg had been with her from the beginning, and lately, lucy had been getting more and more anxious to see what it would become. still, it wasn't going to hatch instantly, and she could be patient. sometimes she liked to sit and try to guess what was inside, and once or twice she allowed herself to pretend it was a rare and special pokemon, just to imagine what it would be like. then she'd laugh and call herself a silly ducklett. seeing that lucy was now resting, both annika and frieda stopped their play to wriggle closer to lucy, making a mock-nest out of her soft hair. "piii~" frieda chirruped, before settling down next to the wurmple, despite the day's heat. the grass was cool and if you stayed still, you could just barely feel a light breeze.

I’m dying!” a young woman, no taller than your average 12 year-old groaned as she treaded through…whatever forest this was and with her was her companion, Squishy and Solosis, taking shelter from the boiling sun as he perched on his trainer’s shoulder, keeping cool by the little shade her hair provided. Meanwhile in her arms, Elizah, otherwise known as Turtle to herself and a select few, was the purple pokemon egg she had come to name as Grape. Even Grape was staying a little cool as it was covered by a light white towel, helping to deflect off some of the sunlight which was one of the many reasons for this blistering heat.
It was just so hot. She wasn’t really all that sure if it was the hot kind of hot or the humid kind of hot, but either way…IT WAS HOT! What in all the known regions was this? Was Groudon on another rampage again? Goodness if he was she was gonna give that over-grown lizard a piece of her mind. As she bothered to look at where she was going for once, she noticed that she had somehow arrived at some weird gathering. People and pokemon alike congregating near a shallow river and hanging-out under trees where it was shaded and cool. Elizah would have done the same as well if not for the fact that half the trees that had the most shade were already occupied.
Elizah sighed once she found herself a big enough to tree to seek shelter under, but instead of sitting down and relaxing as most would plan to do; she placed her fanny pack along with her egg and Solosis and marched down to the river. Squishy watched as Elizah walked off and by habit he was inclined to follow, but seeing as he didn’t see or sense anything that could potentially endanger her, he decided to guard Grape and placed himself on top of the egg, taking a literal term to baby-sitting.
Meanwhile, Elizah was at the river’s edge just staring at the water and basically bored out of her mind, which was until she saw something shiny swim past her. Curious she took a closer look, but then her mind decided to remind her of her fear of water, and as the panic set in Elizah let out a quick yelp of "AWAAH!" and somehow she just ended up slipping on a particularly mossy and damp rocks nearby, sending her plunging into the shallow depths of the river.
She flailed around yelling, “I’m drowning!” and continued to do so. Her Solosis heard her cry and opening his one of eyes to peek at the situation, he found that Elizah was just being the same old dramatic Elizah as always, so he decided to leave her be to her theatrics for the time being. Once she got exasperated with the lack of response from him to save her, he was sure she’d come marching up to him complaining later. | [atrb=style,margin-top:-5px;,bTable] the air was humid but nice, and as lucy lay there, she felt herself slipping into sleep. the grass was surprisingly cool, a nice contrast when compared to the pounding heat of the sun. and best of all, the day was quiet. lucy hadn't been able to find a nice quiet day in a long time, as her time was caught up in the cities, looking after her pokemon, or romping around in the tall grass, trying to find wild pokemon. it had been rather hectic these last few days, and being able to lie down and soak in the silence was relieving. as she closed her eyes, she let out a deep sigh, absolutely content with the way the world was right now. slowly, she felt herself relaxing and it wouldn't be long before sleep--
the splash of something dropping into the water startled lucy, and she sat up with a jerk, eyes wide. frieda and annika, who had been using lucy's hair as a makeshift bed both let out squeals as they tumbled head over ... tails, having had their blanket pulled out from underneath them. lucy, however, hardly gave them a thought, not because she didn't care, but because she was worried that it had been a pokemon--or worse, a person--who had fallen in. there was a lot of splashing around and lucy could hear someone shouting out that they were drowning. looking around, she saw a bit of commotion down the river, and without even thinking, she hurried on over, worry gripping at her chest.
with all the splashing about and with water flying everywhere, she could hardly see who it was, but from what she could tell, it was a girl, and possibly very young. "oh!" she said, trying to think of what to do. she herself had almost drowned at a young age and a sort of sympathy gripped her. quickly, she rolled up her jean capris to over her knees and stepped into the shallow river, though it wasn't necessary as the water didn't even reach her knees. "are you alright?" lucy said loudly, as so her voice could carry over the fuss the other was making. "it's really not a deep river at all, i'm sure you could stand up if you tried."
frieda and annika had both been rather upset when lucy ran off the way she did, though they calmed down when they saw that she was now helping someone. that was very understandable, the two bug pokemon thought, as neither of them could swim and thought any body of water deeper than five inches was much too deep. but now they were much too excited to nap, and both caterpie and wurmple wriggled on over to where they had seen another strange looking pokemon. annika led the way to the solosis, waving and being quite friendly, while frieda shied behind the wurmple, taking small peeks at the strange pokemon.
