[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;] Perhaps this wasn't the best idea in the world.
Thought Red, as he slid down the hill. There was many of places for Pokemon to chase him, but here was a bad one. Rock climb was good to have, but he didn't. He was stuck at the bottom of this hill, and there was only one way to go now, and that was forward. This was definitely the way to the next town over, but... Red checked the map, and he sighed. His Lillipup cowered under his feet, it too had slid all the way down the hill.
[DREAMY FLASHBACK WAVEY LINES HERE]
"COME ON gREY! GO!" Red shouted from the edge of the hill. There wasn't much to state, but Lillipup was scared to go down the hill. Red could easily just call her back in her ball, but that's too easy. She had to learn to obey. For a moment, he walked up behind her, and kicked her in the rear. It was as if the motion missed, but she was already in the process of going. So in that moment, Red missed her butt by mere centimeters and his foot slid off the edge.
A flip occured, and he landed directly on his rectum, as he slowly began to tumble down the hill. Suddenly, his hat flew off in the commotion, and rustled into the breeze. Why did he have such a light hat? Pfft, it was his favorite. Don't ask questions narrator, just fucking narrate.
There was moments in the fall where Red thought he was going to die, but this was petty. Since it was all just dirt he was tumbling on, and if he didn't start free-falling, he'd be good for sure. gREY on the other hand was having her good ol' time just sliding down with no pain needed. She slid on her paws, and just before Red did she reached the bottom of the hill, only to look up and catch a glimpse of a falling Red that slid next to her.
Standing up, he slowly kicked gREY in the side. Oddly enough, she squeaked and tumbled to the side. She enjoyed it a tad, but it was a bit rough this time. Red had to check his map... and it was...
[END FLASHBACK DREAMY WAVE LINES NOW]
"MY HAT!" he suddenly reached up to his head, feeling that there was nothing to safe guard his hair, he scurried over to gREY and picked her up by her scruff and looked her in the eyes.
"ITS YOUR FAULT!" dropping her, he looked around the area for his hat. If someone found it, they would pay highly if it was not returned immediately. Yep, another apparently beautiful day. The sun was shining, the pokemon were flitting across the path when they thought it was safe, and the air was perfumed with a sweet floral scent. Probably some grass or bug type... Diablo seemed thrilled to be out and about after being cooped up in town for two days. What could she say though, it's hard to turn down an opportunity for free cash!
Diablo didn't seem to mind though now that they were on the move again. Once again he was hoping in and out of the grass and toddling a little ways ahead of Jess. She was fine with that. She would hate to be ahead of him if something jumped out for a battle behind her. This way she could see and react more efficiently. Besides, she liked to walk at a more leisurely pace.
Diablo tottled his way around a boulder just as a bright red hat tumbled into view and down the path a ways. It confused the young torchic slightly because he had never heard of wild hats in the wild, and to see one move of apparently it's own accord was just a little unnerving. He shook himself though, glad Jessica couldn't see him like this. He's a brave adventurer, there's no reason some head adornment should scare him. No reason at all.
As a result Diablo puffed himself up and growled at the hat, feigning a few scratches at it. Jess couldn't help but laugh when she finally caught up with him. He certainly looked menacing fighting that evil red hat. She wandered over to pick it up saying, "What have you found?" She turned the hat over in her hands, carefully examining it. It didn't look like a particularly new hat... but at the same time the cap didn't look like it's been sitting outside for any length of time. Not that Jess would be a good judge of that.
She's not a Ranger or anything.
Still, it didn't appear to have any lice so Jess flipped it on top of her head and glanced down at her little partner. "What do yah think?" She asked jokingly watching Diablo's head tip to one side out of confusion. Jessica normally avoided hats so the sight was new to him. She pretended to be hurt by this critique by clutching her heart, replying, "Ouch! I always thought red looked good on me!" She paused though after a moment, thinking she heard something not that far off. A person?
"ITS YOUR FAULT"
Yep, a person. And from the sound of it, not a particularly friendly one. She had winced when the voice came through the second time. Torchic however puffed up at what seemed to be a challenge and tottled off towards where he thought the person was. "Diablo! Wait up!" She called jogging after the small orange fluffball. Sometimes that pokemon fit his name a little too well...

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;] gREY wasn't hurt or anything. She was fine. Standing up, she looked up at Red with her big eyes, but he didn't pay her no mind. Depressing her, she whimpered a moment, but followed him like a good girl. She didn't know what she did wrong, but she was sorry for it. Perhaps she can make it up to Red later, and help him in a battle, but she was very weak... This saddened her as well, Red didn't like her battle experience, so he was turned off by her. She just wanted to make him happy.
Red wasn't happy at all, his head was clouded with murder, and anger. There was no other type of feeling going through his head, the animosity was astounding. He couldn't comprehend words anymore, his hat was gone. It was his only one, he needed to find it. It was important to him, and it wouldn't stay gone for long. He was going to make sure of it!
Slipping his hand over his buttoned shirt, he unbuttoned it to be able to breathe better. He was starting to hyperventilate a tad, and it wasn't good. There was silence for a moment, and he aired his undershirt, as he wiped the dirt from his pants, and black undershirt. There was a moment of complete anger as he heard a womans voice, faint as it was... But he was on the prowl.
His hearing seemed to be heightened, and at this point... He'd be able to take down a Gyrados with his bare hands. It was at this moment, that he ran through the bush. There was a moment of complete and utter infatuation, then covered by simple minded hatred. There was nothing to describe this exact moment to anyone. His hands gripped in a tightly clenched fist as he bit his lip angrily.
gREY still strayed behind Red, as he walked. Suddenly he made his way through some bushes, and stopped. The sudden stop made gREY bump into him. Suddenly she whimpered awaiting a slap, kick, or something of the like. Well actually, she wanted that. It wasn't like she went out of her way to get hit, but it was more or less that she liked to be hit when she did something wrong. It turned her on. Though Red was busy with looking at something, she couldn't see due to the bushes blocking her vision, but suddenly as she popped her out of the grass... Her eyes widened. She didn't know much of human talk, but what she saw she knew exactly what Red was thinking.
Slowly... Red took steps away from the bushes, and came into the clearing. There was a Pokemon headed his way, but he payed it no mind. Suddenly, he pointed a finger at her, his eyes eyes seemed to be holding back tears almost. His posture was slouched, but he seemed very tense.
"YOU!" was all he said, his face scrunched in a very menacing glare. "YOU ARE WEARING MY HAT!" this wasn't yelled, no. It was called from the gates of hell, where all Cubones, and Marowacks burned in all eternity. It was a voice of pure demonic hatred.
The Lillipup was out of the bushes as well, and she seemed to sparkle in the sun. She was shiny, that was a given, but her face showed nothing but pure fear. She loved to be hit, but she knew that if she were to be hit with this much fury... She might die, she could sense it. So she cowered in fear, and hid behind Red's legs, but making sure not to touch him, as to cause him to notice her. A rustle in the distance in front of them caught Diablo’s attention. Was that the furious trainer he had heard? He wasn’t entirely sure but it seemed that the right thing to do would be to check it out. Jessica couldn’t understand it but the little fire type seemed to know what he was doing.
Turns out that Diablo didn't have to go dashing out into the brush to find the other trainer. The wildman found them instead, as distasteful as that was. He burst from the brush, startling Jessica slightly as he did so. The description wildman seemed to fit, considering the state of the trainer in front of her. He literally was wild eyed and he spoke in a way that made her think that he was a recent escapee from a mental asylum. Or he rarely saw other humans. Either way his tone was met only by a look of confusion from Jessica. His hat? What could he be… Oh, that’s right. Because of the commotion she had nearly forgotten that the red hat was still on her head.
Hey, she blames the fact that her mind was a little preoccupied.
She pulled it off slowly and purposefully, and spun it on her finger. In near silence she glanced him over taking in his furious form. She’s seen people more pissed off than this, but generally on things that actually deserved being upset about. Here he was carrying on like she was practically wearing the carcass of a life-long partner and ally. ”How was I supposed to know it was yours? Considering it was just sitting on the side of the path?” She asked coolly, trying not to let the trainer’s horrendous temper get to her. She’s seen worse after all.
Diablo glanced uneasily between the two trainers. He wasn’t sure what Jessica was thinking right now. Was she seriously challenging a guy who looked like he’d wrestle a pissed off Ursaring and think nothing of it? She’s got be be insane. However, being the level he is he soon lost his focus on that issue and began glancing around the route. The lillipup caught his attention, for obvious reasons. It’s rather hard to miss an unusually colored pokemon with reflective flecks in its fur. He cocked his little bird head to one side glancing the other pokemon over. She seemed as terrified of her trainer as he was trying to seem. Was he abusive to her? The thought made the young Diablo puff up with agitation.
He is a little knight in orange down.
Jessica moved to end the standoff by tossing the hat back to Red in a Frisbee motion. She had no right to it, and no way to prove or disprove if the hat was his. Besides, who would lie about something like that, let alone in this manner? That made no sense at all. It certainly wasn’t an impressive trait. Jess decided to shrug it off though. Most people have something that will without a doubt send them over the edge. For this trainer, apparently it was having someone mess with his hat. At least, Jess didn’t like to think that he’s like this all of the time. That would be a very tiring existence.
With that in mind, she decided to see if the two of them simply got off on the wrong foot. If not? Then he’s just another buttmunch in a long line of buttmunches, and it’s no problem of hers at the end of the day.
”The name’s Jessica.” She said, holding out a fishnet gloved hand to the other trainer. Diablo thought she had completely lost her marbles with this gesture, and tensed up ready to defend her if it came down to it. Of the pokemon he’s seen, he could probably handle this trainer’s team… but then again, he’s only seen one… and Diablo tends to get a little cocky before he gets all of the facts.
It will no doubt put him in a great deal of trouble some day.

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;] There was nothing but pure adrenaline coursing through his body. He couldn't see straight, his eyes were redder than usual. More or so crimson now, and he could tell he wasn't in the right mindset. He felt a scurry behind him, knowing it was Lillipup, he forced his leg backward catching her right in the nose. It shoved her across the bushes and unto the other side.
The woman talked, her voice. It ached in his head, he hated this. This moment, it was something he disliked. For a long time no one has dared touch his hat. The last one that did, it was a Pidgey. Sadly, that Pidgey can no longer fly.
"YOU..." this time he saw her flip his hat on his finger. Gritting his teeth, his anger was already at his peak, and she did this? She wore it, but now... She was defiling his hat with a trick? Not only was she defiling his sacred hat, but she was taunting him. She was making sure she would make him more pissed, this wasn't the first time she had done this. It had to be more, maybe she stole hats as a job.
By now he couldn't hear a word she was saying. Then she got a tad bit closer and tossed his hat... LIKE IT WAS NOTHING. SHE WAS BEYOND HATRED AT THIS POINT. For a few moments, the air stopped in his lungs. He couldn't breathe, the hat just flew toward him. With a sudden urge, he stopped from catching it. The hat smacked him dead in the face, then plummeted to the ground.
His head cocked a bit, he wasn't able to formulate what he would do. Then she insisted on getting closer. Why? Why was she getting close to him. For a moment he felt his head spin, she was introducing herself. What was her name again? He couldn't hear her well, she had held out her hand... For a moment, he reached back, fists clenching... Out of nowhere his Pokeball on his side opened and Riolu popped out, shoving the girl away. He could feel the commotion, and knew that there was complete hostility in the air.
His shove was more or less a kick to her abdomen, and it would hurt slightly, yes. Though what came next would hurt even more. Since Raito had shoved her, he had taken place to where she was standing now. Still mid-air. For a moment, he couldn't see behind him, but then he felt it.
Red had no problem with hitting a girl. He'd beat the shit out of one, perhaps today would be when. Though when she did all of this, it was unsure of what would happen. Though his heart sank when he felt something else touch the end of his thrown first. It wasn't a human, it was something much smaller. For a moment, the motion he took stood silent. Staring at what just happened, Raito just lay motionless on the ground a few feet away. Jessica cocked her head to one side out of confusion seeing the red cap bash the guy in the face when he made no attempt to catch it. Was he a complete imbecile, or was he letting his rage overwhelm him to the point that he couldn’t think straight. It’s not her damn fault that she found his hat. And yet this guy was acting like she had reached out and smudged the freaking Mona Lisa. It was a hat.
What, how much value did he place on it?
She really didn’t need to ask that question though, considering that the guy looked like he was about to deck her for her little trick. Huh, most have reservations about hitting a girl, but she could see his hand tense up. Holy hell, so he was a bit on the insane side. She had only meant her bit as a joke, but apparently it didn’t come across that way.
They rarely ever come across the way they were intended. That’s what makes her special.
Jess had started to move back when the Riolu escaped from its pokeball and apparently attempted to save her from his rage filled trainer. That was probably the only reason why Diablo didn’t immediately retaliate in her defense. He may be hot headed, but he wasn’t an idiot when it came to seeing what was going on. From Jessica’s perspective though she caught a toned down version of one of the little pokemon’s kicks and was in no hurry to repeat the incident. She almost cried out, but held her tongue not wanting to give this apparent psychopath (or was it sociopath? She could never keep them straight) the pleasure of seeing her in pain. From her newfound position on the ground, Jess saw that instead of striking her, the pokemon took the blow instead. She would have probably thanked it for the gesture, seeing as the kick was very toned down in comparison to the punch it just received, but she figured that that would probably just lead to more trouble. Her mouth tends to do that after all. Even if it is unintentional, though this probably isn’t one of those moments.
She pulled herself out of the gravel, and frowned at the other trainer. Simply frowned. He beat that shiny looking pokemon out of sight so she couldn’t get a scan of it (probably unintentional), and then moved to strike her and hit his own pokemon instead. Then this trainer in a red cap didn’t even say a word of apology to his partner. What kind of trainer was this? Did he only see his team as tools to perform his bidding? Why was it she wanted to be a breeder, and encourage this barbaric behavior?
Honestly, Jessica wasn’t sure. Maybe she was just deluding herself into thinking that not all trainers where like this. That not all of them existed simply to beat their partners into exhaustion and expect too much from them too soon. That riolu didn’t look like it was very high in level, but it seemed to know enough about its trainer to break loose when needed to protect him from doing something he may regret later. Or not, there’s no telling with a trainer as apparently unstable as this one.
The brunette glanced at her little partner and only shook her head. She didn’t see a point in continuing this altercation. If she spoke, she’d only be fueling him. If they battled, it seemed like it would be rather up in the air as to who would win. Either way it wouldn’t be beneficial to her, so why should she bother? She alone wasn’t going to convince this guy of anything with one battle, and possibly only piss him off more for trying.
Instead she opted for a different option all together. She turned on her heel and started to walk like she was simply going to leave him there in his rage and continue on her merry way. Which in all probability, she meant to do. Diablo called after her in slight disbelief, but soon started scrambling after his trainer. He may not understand, but he certainly wasn’t going to be left behind because of it.

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;] There were moments in the frozen time where he had no idea why he was like this. Was he meant to be born this way? His hat was sacred to him, she desicrated it like it was nothing. Though was he really the center of the universe? Of course he was, he was Red. There was no one better than he! Though really, it all ended hurting his only friend, the one who had been with him through thick and thin. Was he truly right?
Then, Raito slid on the ground. It was moments like these that snapped Red out of his anger, made him seem normal. His whole being changed within these seconds. Though it was odd, he didn't seen to care about his Lillipup, but hitting Raito... That was different. Raito wasn't just a Pokemon, he wasn't just a friend. He was his best friend, someone he never wanted to see lose.
Thoughts ran through his head, was he hurt? Did he break anything? Before he could think anymore, he left his hat on the ground, and ran toward Raito's body. He was breathing, and for a moment his ears began to twitch. Looking up at Red, he didn't say anything. He seemed tired, and his eyes were a bit lax. For a moment, Red hated himself. Then he slowly turned to check on the girl, who seemed to be walking away from the situation.
"YOU!" his anger rose once more, forgetting all about his hat now on the ground. "You caused this! You took my hat, you made me hit Raito!" he pointed at his Pokemon, this time almost tears in his eyes. His voice carried sadness, but yet you could hear the hatred in it. There was nothing like this before, Raito was his best friend. He promised to never let him down, never hurt him. They had so many good times together, and it was all her fault.
By this time, Raito had already stood up. He was fine, though a few bruises here and there. Looking up at Red, he sighed gently. Grabbing unto his pant leg, he tugged it gently.
Looking down, Raito seemed to be standing fine. Red was amazed, he hadn't hurt him like he thought. Maybe he would limp a little, but he was fine. Raito couldn't be injured forever, he was his best friend. He could do anything.
"Raito..." he bent down. Looking at Raito with sadness, this was the first time Red has ever felt this bad. It was tearing him up inside, he couldn't form what he wanted to say. Though he was gonna say something he hadn't in a long, long time.
"I'm sorry..." for a moment Raito looked up at him, a smirk formed across his face, then smiled. He gently pulled his fist back, and hit Red in the jaw. It didn't hurt, but it was as if it made them even now. Red smiled, looking at Raito. It made him happy for a moment, but then he remembered the girl from earlier. She wasn't going to get away, she was to blame for all of this.
"Hey!" he stood up completely, pointing at her. "You aren't going anywhere!" is all he said, as he awaited for her to answer. So this guy does have a soul after all, or at the very least a partial one. She could hear him behind her making up to his riolu. Well, that was one pokemon he apologized to. That shiny pokemon deserved an apology as well but Jess wasn’t going to hold her breath in that regard. The guy was going to do what he was going to do regardless of what she did. Though apparently she was completely in the wrong today. She shrugged it off as she walked. Diablo seemed to eye her in a worried way, but there didn’t seem to be anything he could do in particular either. He hopped his way in front of her and chirped in order to get her attention. This was all too stressful for both the little fire type and his trainer, and completely unneeded.
Jess couldn’t help but smile and his attempts to cheer her up. It’s not that she was upset or sad exactly. A little miffed with the child they just ran into but one doesn’t get upset with the mentally challenged for being mentally challenged. After all, it’s not her fault that he apparently has the intelligence of a slowpoke. In a smooth motion she scooped up the little orange fluffball, and hugged him close. His pokedex entry was right. Diablo was very warm to hug, and she somehow found this reassuring. The little voice in the background though didn’t seem to be done with her. It nagged like an annoying insect that won’t just bite and leave. No, it keeps buzzing past driving the person slowly insane with it damn insistence. Seriously, wouldn’t the guy just buzz off already?
She did catch the part where he started to blame her for his punching his pokemon. Oh, now she was a thief and a psychic? She seriously should go into showbiz. Screw this battling for money gig, she’d travel the world as a cheap act, swindling old ladies and gents out of their fortunes, and stealing hats wherever she goes. That made perfect bloody sense. Seriously, this guy should go jump off a cliff and earn a freaking Darwin award. Save the rest of humanity and his pokemon from his own idiocy.
”Hey! You aren’t going anywhere!”
Jess glanced over her shoulder, holding her little partner. ”Why? Are you going to stop me? You have your hat and you’ve made up with your partner. I don’t see a problem here.” She was probably majorly oversimplifying the problem. They guy just flipped out about a freaking hat. Speaking of, he seemed to have left it in the brush after he hit his pokemon. Interesting. So the pokemon mattered more than the hat. That could probably explain why he was trying to start a fight with her. She glanced over the guy one more time, dubbing him Red only because of the fact that that was the color of his hat. She’s not psychic… really!
He seemed less over the top angry and more controlled fury. Honestly if he aimed that at himself for hitting his own pokemon like that then he’d probably be in a better place than most. Unfortunately he seemed to blame her, who had been a passerby in all of this. He seemed to grant her divine abilities that wouldn’t be possible of a normal human. Deranged dreams of an insane guy essentially.
”Besides, you’re the one who threw that punch, not me.” She continued, possibly going too far with a guy who has already proven to be highly unstable. She has that habit after all. Diablo seemed to agree though, and readied himself in case a battle did start between the two trainers. Jess rather expected it the way he was carrying on, but would rather travel down this path to whatever end it lead to than battle him. But that’s more of a personal choice than anything else. If he did start, then she would defend herself vehemently… knowing that her pokemon had her back.
After all, she didn’t beat them into submission.

[style=font-size: 10px; font-family: Arial; color: #656565; padding: 10px; text-align: justify; border-right: 4px solid #dcdcdc; text-transform: none;]Gripping harder with his clench, he suddenly burst pointing at the girl. For a moment, he was stricken with hatred, then out of the corner of his eye he saw gREY stick her head out from the bushes. Looking at her with anger, he commanded her.
"gREY THUNDER FANG! NOW!" for a moment gREY just looked around, she was confused. HE pointed at the girl in front of him, was she really to attack a person? Red looked serious, it scared her. She was kicked hard earlier and she actually didn't enjoy that one. She didn't want that to happen again.
Dashing forward, she gained speed. Looking up at the woman, she leapt, opening her mouth she readied her jaws to clamp on the girl. Electricity now jolted through her gaping mouth. Perhaps this would happen, and Red would love her. Was this meant to be? Was she going to make Red happy finally?
Red watched his Lillipup follow his command, and without even missing a beat he looked to Raito. Pointing back at the girl, he frowned. "Low kick, now." it was a tad bit odd to use Raito for this, but he was challenged now. She was blaming him, when it was obviously her fault. She caused all of this.
Raito blinked for a moment, but knew what Red was planning. It wasn't good for him, but he had never questioned Red before. There was nothing else for him to do. Moving swiftly toward the girl, he swept a kick at her feet. Jessica’s eyes widened slightly at Red’s response. He wasn’t starting a battle, he was attacking her specifically for just being in the wrong place and having a smartass mouth. It’s not like she had run by and stolen the hat off of his head. And it’s not her fault that she’s a cheeky pain in the ass, but then again he could probably argue that it’s not his fault that he can’t tell his fist from hers, or understand the presence of free will. The shiny looking pokemon seemed confused at his command which gave Jessica the time needed to place Diablo on the ground behind her and grab a pokeball. She heard the command and couldn’t help but smile. Her swinub should have fun with this one.
”Hellion! You’re up!” Jess called, tossing the ball up in the air between herself and the charging pokemon. Being a ground/ice type, Hellion should have no problems at all with taking the brunt of the Thunder fang… Electric types wouldn’t work! Before she could give the pig pokemon any commands though Red also sent his riolu into the fray. So this would be a double battled aimed on her person? What kind of bastard child was this? Did he want to become pokemon champion or something?
No… odds are this one got his kicks stealing candy from invalid babies.
”Diablo, use scratch combined with flame burst on the Riolu. Hellion, avalanche!” Jessica called out in quick succession, jumping backwards to avoid the Riolu’s low kick and clear the way for her torchic. He wanted a double battle, she’d give him one… but just in case, she might as well get the pokedex information from that shiny thunder fang using pokemon. Whipping out the pokedex, she scanned the small pokemon. ”Lillipup, the puppy pokemon. The long hair around its face provides an amazing radar that lets it sense subtle changes in its surroundings. It faces strong opponents with great courage. But, when at a disadvantage in a fight, this intelligent Pokémon flees.” So, the pup flees when it knows that it’s beat? Jessica found that very interesting. How would a trainer compensate for that sort of instinct? She had to shake herself in order to focus on what was going on.
But you’d have to admit, the whole train of thought was rather intriguing.
