"Hmm. Well, this is quite the quandry."
Clear skies and warm weather marked an ideal day in the life of the up-and-coming Trainer Kenneth hoped himself to be, and a brief pause in his journey had him standing beside the path he traveled with all three of his Pokémon wandering about nearby, free of their Pokéballs for the time being. He planned to work them hard, but he wanted to earn their trust and loyalty through benevolence in the meantime. As he understood it, plenty of time spent outside was one key to ensuring a Pokémon's happiness. Charmander and Skorupi seemed to enjoy the exposure well enough, but the way Abra was behaving seemed to imply that it made no difference whether he broughh him out of his Pokéball or left him in; either way, he was just going to sit and sleep. Kenneth stood over his sole Psychic type and looked upon him with a mixture of concern and disappointment. He supposed he should have suspected this behavior based on Abra's Pokédex entry, but that didn't make him any happier about the situation.
He was sure that poking the creature or nagging at it consistently would only get it annoyed, and he didn't need a consistently irate member on his team. Still, he had to gauge Abra's abilities and train him somehow. "What we need is a worthwhile opponent," he said, speaking as if Abra was listening to him (that Abra was aware of his Trainer even as he slept was a truth not yet known to the young man). "I bet you'd wake up for that." Kenneth's first day had gone well, with two captures and one victory over a Wild Pokémon, and with that accomplished, he wanted to start making the Pokémon he had stronger. He began to look around for an opponent to challenge, realizing that the enemy would probably need to be provoked into making the first move; he somehow doubted that Abra would want to move too much on his own.

WILD EKANS APPEARED!!female & intimidate & lv. 5 wrap & leer & poison sting The day was awefully sunny and perfect, and this Ekans had somewhat of a plan in mind. She would find either food or a lover. Or, if possible both. She slithered from side to side, showing off hips she didn't have. "Yoohoo, oh boo-ooys!" she hissed, and hoped for a reaction. Her posture, flirty but also intimidating, would soon be used to bait her chosen one. And then she saw him.
Strong bones, red skin and a flame of love adorning his tail. The lizard known as Charmander was just perfect for her. She hissed while approaching, and soon slithered up in front of him. "Hello mister warm-hearted. I bet we could light a fire together, hmmm?" she flirted.

Charmander had been observing the interactions between his Trainer and the new addition with only mild interest. He found Abra's behavior (or lack thereof) far more irritating than Kenneth seemed to, for he was unable to see the Psychic type's laziness as anything less than a detriment to the team. Still, he didn't give the exchange his full attention. He had been let out to get some fresh air and play time, and he wasn't going to waste it. He interacted with Skorupi on and off, but found her to be fairly boring by his standards. Without a partner to play with, he did what any irresponsible Fire type would do in his situation: he began to play with fire. He would light one, then roll about in it to extinguish it or absorb it into his tail flame. For practice, he fired a few Embers off into the air every few minutes, hoping to one day produce flames of much greater power. With his Trainer, he was sure he could get there.
He heard Ekans coming before he saw her, and he reacted at first if he'd perceived a threat. He turned and glared, ready to face down an enemy, but he relaxed his posture and his gaze when he heard what Ekans actually had to say. Hearing her words, he decided that he would have preferred a challenge. "What are you talking about?" He replied. "You can't even make fire to begin with." Clearly, the meaning of her message was lost on him, or else he was playing dumb to avoid the implications. Skorupi, though, had been near enough to hear it all, and she understood it perfectly. She laughed briefly in response, drawing nearer to her teammate and the amorous Ekans. "I recommend looking elsewhere if you're looking to 'light a fire,'" Skorupi replied jovially. "This guy is dangerously dense. You can do better."
Charmander regarded Skorupi with a gaze filled with confusion, unsure of how to react. He was insulted, of course, but the implication that he was less than intelligent, but at least she might have stopped Ekans from making any more of those weird remarks. He decided that he could get angry about what she was saying later. For the moment, he kept his mouth shut so he could see where that led him. Kenneth, meanwhile, turned about in time to notice that his first two Pokémon were engaged in conversation with one he assumed to be wild, and he raised an eyebrow at the sight. "I wonder what's goin' on over there," he said, and though he still wanted a battle, he decided not to interrupt yet; whatever was happening, it looked to be quite interesting. If nothing else, he might learn something from observing his Pokémon as they behaved naturally.

WILD EKANS APPEARED!!female & intimidate & lv. 5 wrap & leer & poison sting The Charmander's reaction was pretty dissappointing. Why did all the good lizards have to be so socially awkward and serious? Though, the Ekans was still determined to win this one's heart, whatever it took. The Skorupi, sassy and incredibly insulting, was now focused upon as an enemy.
"Go away, you no good bug! This schmexy lizard is mine!" she said determined, and hissed at the female. She now lay between Charmander and Skorupi. Before getting ready to engage the bug, she turned around. "Honey, before I protect our love, I must tell you one thing. I will always love you". This Ekans was definitely obsessive!

Skorupi couldn't have cared less about Charmander's heart, as she and the Flame Pokémon hadn't gotten along too fabulously thus far. Further, she hated that he might get a large head at the idea of two females fighting over him. Neither of those factors stopped her from getting upset at Ekans' remarks. Here she was trying to be friendly and offer a fair warning, and she was being insulted for it? A more polite rebuttal--perhaps something like "thanks, but I'll be fine," or "he's good enough for me"--probably wouldn't have warranted any significant response, but calling her a "no good bug"? That was unacceptable. Skorupi quickly began glaring daggers at Ekans, and almost immediately after she made her bold profession of love, the Scorpion Pokémon attacked.
"I'll show you who's no good!" Skorupi called as she threw herself at Ekans, mouth wide open as she went in for a Bite. If she managed to sink her teeth in to that snake's skin, she would apply as much pressure as she could for as long as she could; she wanted to do some real damage. Charmander reacted with great surprise, responding almost simultaneously to Ekans' confession and Skorupi's reaction. He still didn't fully understand what was going on, but as the situation unfolded, all that seemed to become clear was that Skorupi was getting to fight and he wasn't. That upset him a bit, but he just stood in place looking uncertain. He didn't even know this Ekans, so how could she possibly love him? Why the hell was Skorupi so upset about it? It was too much for Charmander to process in just a few seconds, but he was able to make one deduction: Poison types were weird.
Kenneth observed Skorupi's attack from his place with Abra and clenched his teeth nervously. "I guess it's on," he said, and he turned to tell Abra to wait right there. His words got caught up in his mouth when he realized that they'd be wasted on the sleeping Pokémon, and he let out a sigh and rushed over to the battle. "What's going on?" He asked, posing his question to Charmander, who only shrugged in response. Kenneth raised an eyebrow, but did not press the issue since he wouldn't really be able to understand a more detailed response anyway. He turned his eyes upon the two Poison types with the intent to direct the battle if Skorupi would let him.

WILD EKANS APPEARED!!female & intimidate & lv. 5 wrap & leer & poison sting As Ekans was attacked, she could not help but feel driven by the situation. It was a war for love, and amorous battle, and the winner would get the flaming prize: Charmander. Oh, how the excitement thrilled her. "I will never give you up, my love" she spoke softly, but aggressively, and readied herself. The leer was as effective as it should and could be. She now knew that the Skorupi was serious. The bite, on the other hand, hit her right on because she had been surprised.
"Give up, or vanish!" Ekans hissed, and threw herself at the foe Skorupi, trying to bind her with her body, for so to squeeze her hurtfully. Hopefully, it was going to hurt.

With zero distance between herself and her opponent and her fangs fixed securely into the Ekans' flesh, there was simply no way for Skorupi to evade the counterattack that came her way. For the first few moments of the attack, she kept applying more and more pressure to her enemy and shaking her head in order to do as much rending and tearing as she could. Alas, it was only a matter of time before the pressure assaulting her from all directions forced her to release her grip in order to try for some more air. She cried out as she did so, and as oxygen became scarce, she began to gasp and wheeze. She was considering any number of options that might help her out of her predicament, but her mind was racing too quickly and too desperately for her to settle on one. She couldn't quite guess how much time she had left, but she didn't think it would be much.
That was when Kenneth came in. With the fight having begun in earnest, he decided that it was safe to chime in as the Trainer of one party. "Hang in there, Skorupi," he said calmly, the note of authority in his voiced matched only by his resolve and confidence in his Pokémon. "Poison Sting. Hit it as many times as it takes!" Trusting for the moment in her Trainer's skill, Skorupi followed the commad and let the poison in her body flow into her tail. Her stinger began to glow a vibrant purple color after she had done so, and she began to stab repeatedly at the body of her opponent. The attack wouldn't be as effective as it could have been against another Poison type, but the threat of pain or the pain itself would hopefully be enough to inspire Ekans to release her. It was the best idea at the time, and she really hoped her Trainer was right to suggest it.

WILD EKANS APPEARED!!female & intimidate & lv. 5 wrap & leer & poison sting Ekans rejoiced over the effectivity of her attacks, and her amorous thoughts were again vented into her head. "Looks like I'll be your love!" she hissed loudly to the Charmander, ignoring her proximity to the Skorupi. That was a mistake.
The poison stings surged into her skin, and even though they weren't very effective, they hurt. And since there were many of them, the feeling of pain and anguish settled in Ekans' brain. "Why? Why is our love forbidden!?" she cried, Her binding lost it's strength, and soon she relieved her opponent of the grasp. But it was not over. With a poison sting back, the Ekans opened her mouth and fired a few glowing purple darts, flying towards the foe Skorupi.

The success of Skorupi's attack brought a smile to Kenneth's face even though he had to watch his Pokémon role over a few times and gasp desperately for air after being released from the attack. That strategy had been a simple one, but it felt good to watch a plan come together no matter how simple the plan happened to be. Though his expression was pleasant, the Trainer eyed Skorupi carefully to ensure that she hadn't suffered so much damage that a tag-out might be necessary. Once she had gained by a fair amount of oxygen, she appeared to be in better shape, but her brief respite was cut short by the interruption of the still-hostile Ekans. The retaliatory Poison Sting caught Skorupi off her guard, and she took several spines to her head and back before she was able to dodge roll out of their path. A few of them had managed to get stuck into her, but those that weren't broken off during the roll were pushed out after a moment. Immunity to Poison was a convenient trait to have.
Still, the assault had done some damage, and Skorupi squinted as she tried to push through the pain. This battle was turning out to be a little more than she'd bargained for, but at least it was better than being burned alive by Charmander. "What the hell are you still blabbering about?! She exclaimed, offering a late response to Ekans' likely-rhetorical question. "Love doesn't work like that! You can't just show up out of nowhere and try to claim someone." Kenneth didn't know what Skorupi was saying, but it was obvious that her conflict with Ekans went beyond two Pokémon just fooling around. There wasn't really time to figure it out yet, though; this was a battle, and Kenneth's only job was to conduct his Pokémon. "Bite, Skorupi," he commanded, and Skorupi launched herself at Ekans yet again. The threat of another Wrap attack had her feeling a bit nervous, but Kenneth was confident that Ekans wouldn't want to use that attack on Skorupi again after the way it ended before. It might managed to dodge this time, but it would probably take nothing more than a strategic adjustment to deal with that.

WILD EKANS APPEARED!!female & intimidate & lv. 5 wrap & leer & poison sting The stupid Skorupi was denying Ekans' love, something that really hurt her. But what hurt her even more, was her bite, which dug into her. "Oooouch! she complained, and jumped backwards. And with that, she was starting to feel weakened. She was breathing heavily, and her vision was starting to flimmer.
In a last attempt at victory, she threw herself at the foe. "Love is not a game with rules. It is something spontaneous, that you can not understand!" She hissed, and bound around the Skorupi. She pressed as hard as she can, which wasn't an impressive strength, as it was before. Weakness.

Skorupi was ready for Ekans' attack this time. As it slithered forward and began to coil around her, she threw out her arms, opened her pinsirs and braced herself. She wasn't going to allow herself to be robbed of her precious air this time, but her defensive maneuver had still put her into something of an uncomfortable situation. There was a noticeable decline in Ekans' power, a lessening of its attack strength, and she was relieved for that. The enemy still proved to be capable of putting quite a bit of stress on those small arms, and it only took a few seconds for Skorupi to begin feeling the strain.
Kenneth watched this spontaneous defense with pride. "Hang in there, Skorupi," he said with a little more passion than usual. "The enemy is weak! Strike back with Bite!" He hadn't battled that many opponents wild or trained, so he still wasn't able to tell for certain when he was about to knock an enemy Pokémon out. He could tell when the enemy was losing strength, though, and Ekans was definitely standing on its last legs. So long as it didn't pull out any surprises, they would probably claim another victory, and with it another bit of confirmation that Kenneth could really succeed as a Trainer. He watched with bated breath as his command was put into action. After drawing her arms in so that Ekans' body could get as close to her as she needed it to, Skorupi opened her mouth wide so that she could clamp down on the snake Pokémon's body as soon as it came within range.

WILD EKANS APPEARED!!female & intimidate & lv. 5 wrap & leer & poison sting The Ekans was hurt by the last bite, more than she knew. The world began spinning, and her vision was tunneling? "With this, I will die as a martyr of my love to you" she said to the Charmander with weak eyes. Before I go, my love. Hold me... she continued. She did not know that she was only fainting, and after some rest she would be OK.

WILD GOTHITA APPEARED!!male & frisk & lv. 5 pound & confusion Cool, cool. Everything was cool. He was walking, and it was cool. His gaze was just that awesome. He was sure no one could resist him. He owned this route, and he would tell you on the spot. I'm walkin', man. Just walkin' he said while doing some really cool hand gestures. The wild Gothita had never cared about his feminine looks, and instead would always pride himself on his quick words and lyrics.
When he saw one of his 'homies' being hurt, he rushed to her rescue. This would go down hard and solo. "Yo, dudes and hoes. You be trippin or what!? You hurt my friends here, on my street, yo in big trouble!" he said, still with the hip-hop hand gestures. He then turned around, and looked over one of his shoulders with a serious look. Brace yourselves...

"Errrr..." The truth remained that Charmander was at a loss for words in the face of all that had unfolded before him. He understood what love meant, but he was young, brash, and possessed of a one-track mind. He had trouble devoting the fullness of his mental faculties to anything that didn't have to do with fighting, training, or getting stronger. Still, he did feel a hint of sympathy for Ekans as she went down, and his expression softened to reflect this. She'd been pretty nice to him, after all. Hesitantly, he reached out to her to at least make contact and see what that did, but she was out cold before he was close enough. Skorupi, still breathing heavily, managed a smirk. "Serves her right," she said. For his part, Kenneth smiled and briefly jerked his arm backwards in a brief victory gesture. "Great job, Skorupi," he said, drawing closer to his team. He pulled her Pokéball from his belt and aimed it at her. "You should take a break." A red beam emerged from the sphere and engulfed the Poison-type, pulling her in so that she could rest in peace.
It was just as he was withdrawing Skorupi that the Trainer registered the presence of another challenger, and he had to turn slightly in order to face the antagonist. Unable to understand its emphatic speech, he raised on eyebrow in confusion. Naturally, Charmander, who understood perfectly, was immediately up in arms. "Looking for trouble?" He asked with a smirk. "I'll take you on." Kenneth wasn't sure what was passing between the two Pokémon, but he could see that a battle was brewing. "Hold on," he said, focusing mostly on Charmander. A swift hand drew at his Pokédex and quickly aimed it at the strange creature.
Gothita, the Fixation Pokémon. They intently observe both Trainers and Pokémon. Apparently, they are looking at something that only Gothita can see.
"Right," Kenneth said as he put the device back in its place. He focused his attention on the Gothita and spoke sternly, hoping that he could command some measure of respect from it. "If you're looking for a fight, that one will be your opponent." He pointed back to the tree where Abra still slept. It looked as unassuming as ever in that position, but he remembered that members of its species would often react to attacks even while sleeping. By that logic, Abra just needed a reason to move, and Gothita could probably provide one. It just needed to take the bait.

WILD GOTHITA APPEARED!!male & frisk & lv. 5 pound & confusion The Gothita was happy when the Charmander accepted the challenge, as he seemed to pose a threat, and getting rid of him would clear up Gothita's territory a bunch. But no, the human had to redirect the action to the sleeping Abra by the tree. "Duude, that's way uncool..." he exclaimed, and crossed his arms. That thing over there could have been there for years for all he knew, as immovable as it seemed.
But then, Gothita thought for a second and accepted the challenge. "Nevermind, bro. This'll just be a quick detour" he assured the Charmander, and went in with his fist. "Brace yo'self!" he shouted, and pounded the Abra with his heavy arm. Or at least an arm made heavy...

Excellent. Now that he had an opponent for Abra, he was sure that he would see the Psychic Pokémon take action. Naturally, Charmander looked disappointed, as he almost always did following a blocked challenge. Casting his gaze at the ground and crossing his arms, he said "Make it quick," to the Gothorita and began the arduous task of waiting. It would be clear to anyone who could actually understand him that he didn't have any faith in Abra's abilities, for he saw nothing more than a lazy Pokémon who couldn't even be bothered to move himself. That didn't occur to Kenneth, though, as the lizard's words were still all but unintelligible to him. He followed briskly after Gothorita as it approached Abra, ready to jump in and do his part as the Trainer.
The new opponent wasted no time beginning the battle with a Pound attack. "This is it," Kenneth muttered eagerly, barely able to contain his anticipation. He was about to see his first Psychic type in action. What technique would it use? Confusion? Psybeam? Psychic? He had no doubt that it would be powerful, but as it turned out, doubt was in order. His face fell in response to the disappointment he felt when he saw that Abra opted not to do anything at all, instead taking the Pound attack right to his face. Worse yet, he still didn't wake up. "Oh, you have got to be kidding me," he said, gently slapping his forehead. He reached for Abra's Pokéball with a sigh, ready to call the battle then and there, but he was surprised to see that his Pokémon had begun to move. Abra lifted his hand lazily, but once it was up, he launched it at Gothorita with all the might he could muster. Kenneth watched as it caught fire midway through its path.
