He thought he was better than her, didn't he? This was horrible, first her friend and now a stranger, how could the Tangela's day get any worse. Yet, it seemed she'd counted her eggs before they'd hatched. As she stood there, reconstructing her whole day in her head she saw that he ghost pokémon on the boy's shoulder had moved. And from what she could tell was getting ready to attack. Well not on her watch! The Tangela jumped from her position out of the way of the fiery attack, yet one of her tentacles got burnt. She shook off the pain and turned back on the opponent. How dare he attack her like that! She had to go out tonight, and there was no way she'd be defeated by a stupid candle and miss it. The girl's tentacles flung out from her body and tried to seize around the Litwick. Hoping she had the enemy in her grasp she used her sleep powder attack. Devan frowned worriedly as the Tangela dodged his attack. This wasn't good, not good at all. This particular Tangela seemed not only upset but that just seemed to make it stronger and by the looks of it, it was pretty strong already. It looked to him like this was going to be one tough battle. He saw the Tangel shake off the pain from the small burn it had recieved and get ready to attack itself, he still couldn't believe it had dodged their combination attack! Sure they'd made it recently but it was still a pretty good move. Devan shook his head, now was not the time to be focusing on that, he had a battle to win. He shouted and order to Dusk just and the Tangela's tenacles snakes out to grab her, hoping he wasn't to late "Dusk use smog over the entire area!" Though Dusk started the smog before the tentacles reached him he still couldn't get out of the way in time to dodge the attack. Devan knew the sleep powder must have missed though when it shot out of the cloud of smoke, nearly hitting him. From Dusk's cry he could tell that his friend was ensnared though which wasn't good. Or was it.....he had a quick thought and said "Dusk hurry! Use Heat Wave on Tangela's tentacle to escaspe! See if you can light up the smog like last time!" It was a an attack based purely on chance and faith in his pokemon. If Dusk was able to escape and the do as Devan had said he could be hit by the burning smog himself but since he was a fire and a ghost type it shouldn't hurt him to much.

When she let out her sleep powder attack it didn't seem to hit the Litwick, causing the pokémon to cuss slightly. Nothing was made better when she was surrounded in a smog attack that before long caught a light. She felt herself burning in pain and released the pokemon. She jumped out of the smog and fire and came out only poisoned, not burnt. She coughed and felt her energy drain away slightly. This wasn't good at all. She was angry and therefore tried using a sleep powder attack once again. It was best to put this thing into a sleep for that would make defeating it easier. After she'd aimed her attack and shot; roots began to sprout from her feet and into the ground. It was her Ingrain attack and was helping her to restore health from the ground, but meant movement would be restricted. Dusk jumped from the flaming smog, a little scratched but nothing bad or worth worrying about. She shook herself off, still fine, and turned to Devan. "Lit!" Devan smiled down at the little pokemon. "I know, good job buddy. Looks like this pokemon is tougher than we thought." He thought to himself about how hard the pokemon had been battling so far, it was definately pretty tough. Maybe he should battle it and then capture it for himself. If he couldn't use it himself he could probably at least sell it for a pretty good profit. After all it was pretty strong and a pokeball only cost 200, he could probably get at least 3 times that for this pokemon. While he had been thinking though the Tangela used sleep powder once again. Dusk barely managed to dodge the attack and looked back at Devan. "Lit! Litwick!" Devan looked back and said "Your right, sorry buddy. I'll pay more attention now." He saw Tangela using ingrain and smiled, that meant it would have to stay in that one spot. "Now Dusk," he pointed to the Tangela, "use your combination attack, heat wave and ember together!" Dusk's flame flared once again as he took in a large mouthful of air then shot the fiery combination attack at Tangela.

Every so often a little energy was taken by the poisoning she had, but the Tangle bit her lip and withheld the pain. It was then that she saw the Pokémon about to attack again. She got ready to dodge, only to realize that she was rooted to the ground. The opponent looked more and more ready to attack and she began to struggle. What would she do?! The attack hit and she screamed loudly as it began to burn her and cause intense pain. The attack stopped and she was barely able to do anything. The ingrain attack had it's contact broken with the ground and the Tangela was pretty angry. Just about to attack the Litwick again she felt energy drain from her and feel to the ground. She was unable to battle any more. Barely conscious she watched the Litwick, hate filling her eyes. "Finish me, now." Devan looked at the tangela as it collasped, feeling kind of bad for the pokemon. He still wondered what had made it so mad as to start harassing him and his pokemon and be so angry. He could still see the anger in its eyes as it stared at Dusk. Devan sighed and said "Lets finish this up fast Dusk." Dusk nodded and said a simple "Lit." Devan nodded back and said "Use heatwave!" Dusk's flame flared just like last time and it let out the fiery heat wave and with the condition Tangela was in, there was no way it would miss. Devan reached inside his pack and pulled out a berry, tossing it to Dusk. Dusk nodded at him, knowing what Devan meant. Walking over to the defeated Tangela Dusk layed the berry by its side so when it woke up it would have something to help it heal at least a little bit and then walked back over to Devan who bent down, picking her up and setting her in her usual perch on his shoulder. "So, how do you feel buddy? Did you get much experience?"

Black filled her eyes as they shut. She was knocked out and the Litwick had won the battle. Pokémon that had been around watching were all scared and had run off. They didn't want to be the next victim of a harsh burning. The route seemed pretty quite now, and nothing seemed to want to pop out.
