It had been only a couple of hours since he had left the poke ranch, and still, he had Bouffalant's pokeball grasped tightly in his right palm. Normally he clipped all of his occupied pokeballs to his brown leather holster belt, but this time he was much too excited. "Man, all of that persuasion was worth it, and to think I could have missed out on you." He muttered in a low tone as he brought the deflated pokeball up to his eye level. He was now walking with an air of added confidence and eagerness. The locals had told him of the lore and superstition around the Chasm, something about a horrible monster that ate people lived in the makeshift crater forest.
Though such a thing would have scared most, the thrill of mystery and adventure behind the story only made the young trainer want to explore it that much more. "Besides, even if this "monster" was real and I did run into it, I'm sure Bouffalant could take it." He thought halfway facetiously though partly reassured as he grinned at the red and white porcelain sphere before finally clipping to his belt holster."They weren't kidding when they said it was a long hike, and my choice of clothing isn't helping me against this heat either." He admitted as he wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his left hand.
His light blue eyes shining in the sunlight as his black short cropped hair only insisted his perspiration. With a light red short sleeve t-shirt, black pants and black and white high top shoes it was obvious he was from out of town. Most natives tended to wear shorts and large straw hats for the sake of keeping cool. Only a few moments after entering the forested chasm he was met with a lush beauty he did not expect. From all of the horror stories he heard about this place he expected it to be dark and gloomy. Leaning his shoulder up against the adjacent tree he stopped to take in all of the diverse vegetation and gaze at the leaves as the sunlight creeped through the cascading canopies above, this place wasn't so bad, right?

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: #CCCCCC;width: 350px;height: 410px;,bTable] | | | [cs=3] if i sang out of tune lucy had never heard of the story of the giant chasm, otherwise she might have been somewhere else. instead, she had been much too busy gushing over her newest team member to heed everyone's warnings. for a while now, she had been carrying around a pokemon egg, and just recently, the egg had hatched into an oddish. an adorable baby oddish, she might add. she had named him pierre and he had become the new baby of the group, though she wasn't sure if delilah was too happy about being upstaged. still, lucy couldn't contain her excitement about her growing team. just before, it had only been her and frieda, and already the numbers were up to four. the miniaturized pokeballs lightly clattered against each other in her bag with every step, and it made lucy happy just to know that they were there. she was never alone, as long as her pokemon were around.
the giant chasm started off with a hard climb, but then seemed to suddenly melt away to a beautiful forest, and lucy was almost taken aback. the climb had been hot, but now the cool shade of the forest felt like a reward, a congratulations of sorts. her pace slowed down as she walked and turned, taking in the view. honestly, she wasn't too sure as to why she had come to this place, but now wasn't sad about it at all. the trees branched high in the air and the sun barely peeked through the thick foliage. this was a happy place, lucy decided. there were faint rustling noises, signs that there were wild pokemon about, and every so often she would see more signs: a form darting through the grass, the disappearance of what looked like a tail. but she wasn't here for training today. today it was more like ... a celebration of sorts.
walking, lucy passed by a figure leaning against a tree, and partly to be friendly and partly because she missed human companionship, she stopped to say hello. "oh hi there," lucy said, a wide smile on her face. "i didn't think i'd run into anyone here." she held out a hand. "my name's lucy."

As he stood, or rather, leaned against the sturdy tree trunk, his ears soon became apart of the beautiful experience. Not only were his eyes taking in the beauty of the scenery but now his ears were picking up on the natural forest sounds. Faint rustling noises, the flapping of feathers and the scurrying of small paws were all indicative of the natural wildlife of pokemon that were present. The locals had not told him that this forest inhabited wild pokemon, all they could seem to focus on was the fact about the man eating monster everyone was so terrified with.
A light smile befell his face as he recalled asking the locals what this monster actually looked like. Some said it was a giant worm whilst others maintained it was something far more grotesque. The fact that none of their descriptions ever corroborated each other only built his confidence in the fact that such a creature did not exist. Because surely if it did, people would know what it looked like, at least to some degree, right? He just simply couldn't imagine people living in fear of something they have never even seen. "It's gotta be just an old wise tale. People just get so easily scared these days." He thought with absolute belief, puffing his chest proudly, knowing that he surely was not among those sorts. "Gaahh! Monster!" He exclaimed at the sound of an intelligent voice adjacent to him.
His nerves didn't give him a chance to look to see what it was, but apparently he was sure it was the man eating monster. The crunching of leaves and the cracking of twigs beneath his bum indicated that he had fallen. Trembling in fear, he slowly raised his head, reluctant to get a visual of this terrifying monster. But as his blue irises scrolled up, he saw nothing but an older girl with long blonde hair, a tan over coat, a satchel, and a rather nice flower print dress. Oh the embarrassment. "Oh....hi. I-I thought you were someone else.." He replied awkwardly as he rose to his feet whilst dusting the stray leaves and dirt from his black pants. "Uh, nice to meet you Lucy, the names Alan." He added as he retrieved her handshake. But what he did not know was that one of his pokeball's had un clipped itself from his belt holster when he fell, the pokeball containing his Bouffalant rolling awkwardly between them.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: #CCCCCC;width: 350px;height: 410px;,bTable] | | | [cs=3] if i sang out of tune lucy didn't mean to scare anyone--honestly, she didn't. but when the boy cried out that she was a monster and was startled to the point of falling, she felt a little hurt and worried and definitely sorry. her face fell and she took a step back, hands clasped behind her back as she stood and tried to show that she was not a monster. she wouldn't even hurt a fly. but then the boy looked up and saw that she wasn't and a wide smile spread across her face. see, it was nice to be noticed like that sometimes. as lucy shook his hand, a firm, single up and down movement, as handshakes should be, she gave him a once over. he looked young, a lot younger than she was, and for a moment, she couldn't tell if she was too old or if he was too young. was there even an age where one was supposed to start training? lucy hoped not, though she did note that she had seen trainers a lot younger than she was, and possibly even further on their journey than she. still, she wasn't going to let something like that put a damper on her spirits.
"hi, alan, it's nice to meet you," lucy replied, still smiling. as she slipped her hand from his, she noticed the pokeball on the ground between them and stooped to pick it up. "i'm sorry; i didn't mean to scare you," she said, though a little late, as she brushed off the pokeball. once it was clean of the dirt from the forest ground, she held it out to him, as she didn't recognize it as one of hers. "is this yours?" she asked, hoping his answer would be yes. if it wasn't, it meant that a trainer had lost their poor pokemon in the forest, and that seemed like an impossible problem to solve.
"so, you're a trainer too?" lucy asked, once he had taken the pokeball. if he was, then perhaps ... well, perhaps he would be open to having a battle with her. though she was a little against battling--she got much too worried about her own pokemon--lucy figured that battling was what pokemon did and even little pierre could handle himself. besides, pokemon needed to battle if they were to get stronger and evolve, and hopefully alan would be willing to help her out. "i'm a little new at this whole thing, but, would you perhaps like a battle? my pokemon need to train, and i'm afraid i haven't been able to find any other trainers around who are willing."

"No, it's not your fault, I'm just a little jumpy right now is all. " A little was an understatement, he had fallen all the way down, flat on his arse. He could only rub the back of his head and smile to water down the awkward instance, hopefully she didn't think he was some kind of weirdo. Before he could think up something to say to help carry along the uncomfortable encounter he noticed Lucy bend down as if something below had caught her eyes. Raising his brow in curiosity he watched eagerly to see what it was she had retrieved from the grassy dirt floor of the makeshift forestland. "Uh, yeah?" Though his response had a tone of uncertainty, he was sure that it was his Bouffalant's pokeball. What he was not sure about is how it ended up on the ground. Looking down at his belt holster he quickly realized that the corresponding leather clip had popped open, most likely from his less than graceful fall. "Yes, I'm a trainer, though a fairly new one to say the least. I've really only been in one battle, but even that was abruptly ended, so I guess you can say I am still a rookie." He replied with a tone of unphased honesty as he retrieved the pokeball from Lucy's hands. "Oh sure, no reason two newbie trainers should pass up on the opportunity to gain some experience." He replied again, this time with a tone of welcomed surprise and excitement, who would of thought he was to run into a fellow trainer here in this giant chasm. After nodding to Lucy he began to increase the distance between them via backward steps, setting up for their battle. "Since she's in my hand already, I'll go ahead and lead with Bouffalant." He said with a friendly yet competitive smile as he inflated the pokeball with the press of its center button before hurling it through the air. As the porcelain red/white ball hit the ground, it expelled a white energy that quickly came together to form his newly acquired buffalo pokemon. "Alright then, ladies first. I'm ready when you are."BOUFALLANT ♀ LEVEL 1 MUDSLAP| STRENGTH HM4 ABILITY: RECKLESS [/size][/font] [/center] - Bouffalant stand's by for battle, awaiting instructions!

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: #CCCCCC;width: 350px;height: 410px;,bTable] | | pierre level 01 chlorophyll ► absorb ► sludge bomb pierre used sludge bomb ! | [cs=3] if i sang out of tune all right, her first trainer battle! lucy complied by also taking a few steps back. she was actually rather glad that the two were both rookie trainers. she hadn't thought it through when she asked for a battle; what if he had been an intense trainer who had all these level 50 pokemon? well, she should just be relieved. otherwise, she was sure her own pokemon would have been trampled to death. lucy watched as he released his first pokemon. it was large, and if she didn't know any better, would have called it a tauros, but she did know better and saw that it was actually a very different pokemon. quickly, she fumbled around in her bag and pulled out her pokedex. bouffalant; the brash buffalo pokemon. They charge wildly and headbutt everything. Their headbutts have enough destructive force to derail a train. well. lucy might still have to worry about her pokemon getting trampled. all the pokemon in her party were shorter than a foot--she didn't know how they were supposed to take down such a large pokemon as this. however, she did see that it was rather young-looking, and hopefully she was right. once lucy realized she had been taking her time in releasing her pokemon, a sheepish and apologetic smile stretched on her face as she dug through her messenger bag, looking for the right pokeball. "alright, then," lucy said, tossing the sphere into the air. it cracked open and let out a beam of light that materialized into a small oddish on the ground near lucy. pierre looked around, saw the bouffalant on the other side of the rather small and makeshift battlefield and jumped up onto his toes, happily calling out a greeting. if he had arms, he would have waved. "no, pierre, we're going to battle now," lucy said, dropping to sit on her heels. but at the mention of a battle, the oddish's eyes went wide as he looked up at the bouffalant. "it's okay, i believe in you," she said, lightly nudging the oddish forward. with a gulp, the oddish toddled forward, looking up at his now opponent. the other pokemon seemed to absolutely tower over him, and he compared it to a mountain in his mind. but still, if lucy wanted him to fight, he would do his best. and hopefully he wouldn't get trampled. "i'll start us off, then," lucy said, then turned to address her pokemon: "pierre, use sludge bomb!" well, that marked the start of the battle. the oddish took a deep breath to steel himself and to prepare the attack. "dish!" the little pokemon cried out, and at the same time, he let out what looked like a purple, stickly, slimy glob at the bouffalant at a surprising speed. |

He began to get visibly anxious as he drummed his fingers against his thigh, watching the older girl take her own steps back, helping to establish their battle field. He felt his mouth salivating, looking to pressure him into his rather gross habit of spitting. Though in any other case, he probably would have obliged to this impulse, but considering Lucy was a girl he felt it best to refrain. It was a matter of tact and respect between the difference in their genders, but who know's, she may have been perfectly ok with the vulgar display? Maybe she herself was an occasional "spitter" and sometimes ignored the expected lady like delicacies? "I wonder what type of pokemon she has?" He thought as he watched her fish through her satchel, assuming she was looking to a retrieve an occupied pokeball. "Oddish, the grass/poison type pokemon. It is a nocturnal Pokémon that uses moonlight rather than the sun's rays for photosynthesis." The robotic monotone voice of his pokedex said as he nodded with an air of obtained knowledge before stowing it back into his pocket. "Aww." The Oddish was terribly cute and seemed to be extremely friendly, he almost felt bad he had to battle it. However he quickly snapped out of it's mesmerizing cuteness and realized he had to respect that it was still his opponent, no mater how soft and squishy it seemed. The adolescent trainer bent his knees and furrowed his brows in determination as Lucy voiced she would get things started. "Get ready." The female buffalo pokemon snorting heavily out of its large nostrils in agreeing reply, repeatedly kicking its hoof across the ground, symbolizing its readiness to spring into action. "Quick Bouffalant, counter with mudslap!" He exclaimed as he saw the terrifyingly quick arch of sludge baring down towards them. Had the attack been any slower they might of had a chance to effectively counter, but at its rate of speed, Bouffalant's mud slap would only prove to be a swift return fire. "Booouuufff!" Bouffalant cried out in mild agony as it was hit in the mane and chest by the sludge attack as it turned and kicked up a volley of mud towards the Oddish with its hind hooves. "Your a tough girl Bouffalant, hang in there! Follow up with strength!" He cried out as Bouffalant quickly regained is bearings and reared around before charging at Oddish with its horn's poised. It was true though, Bouffalant was tough, after all they were renown for their great physical strength and toughness, hence his encouragement was backed by good reputation. She was far from killing over for the sake of damage. But as she would approach, Bouffalant would attempt to bash the small Oddish with its head, her horns covering the left and right sides, closing any room for escape in either direction. All the young trainer could see from his end was a bit of kicked up dust. He just hoped that Bouffalant's Mud Slap was enough to cover her frontal charge, if it was, he was sure they would manage to score a hit this round.
